Its the stuff that makes lawyers £millionaires. "Jet" is an acknowledged word, in every day use, and a "jet" is used by , I imagine, 99% of the worlds airlines so how can they be accused of infringing what is, effectively, a trade mark. What will they be defending next,,,the right to use "Airline"? ( Once upon a time, all trade marks/names had to be made -up...eg EXXON... but I guess these days it's a bit easier)

Idiots who cannot determine between the 2 (am I allowed to use that number??) companies shouldn't be allowed out on their own.I wouldn't think I was putting aviation fuel in my car if I went to a Jet garage.Still, I suppose it might give jetxtra some free advertising.

I think this could play right into the hands of jetxtra, looking at the responses on their facebook and other aviation forums about this, the public are getting behind jetxtra and if the press get hold of it then that'll give a fair amount of free advertising! They'll probably owe jet2 a thank you afterwards for all the publicity it caused!
Loving the Ryanairesque 'David Vs Goliath' spin they have put on it, bet O'Leary would be proud!

It was on Look Lincolnshire for a minute earlier, but I'd hardly say its massive news so it will no doubt have negligable benefits. Will have to see if they make a bigger deal of it on the evening show.
I do wonder what will happen after tomorrow however, as Jet2 have demanded they surrender the name by 4pm. I hope CTT Group dont see this as a liability and pull funding, as then there really will be no jetXtra.

Look North teatime programme featured a slightly longer version this evening including an interview with Daniel Reilly and one with a business lawyer who scoffed at the claim from Jet2. We are in the Grimsby Telegraph Re- new head at the airport too. Twice in two days & an advert for HAT.We seem hot news at the moment. Saying that not a single mention of anything new on HUY official site as usual

If you search on google there has been a mention on the airports news section, but the link says no content. Strange.

I wonder if they've taken it down until the Jet2 threat is sorted, MAG must earn millions from Jet2 every year so may not want to p them off by marketing the name! Although the flights are still on the timetable.

The HDM Business section today, has a decent coverage of JetXtra coming to HUY. The story is also covered in todays UK Airport News.

If you search on google there has been a mention on the airports news section, but the link says no content. Strange. There was a press release last week, but it was put on the home page, not the press release section Anyway it's gone now, as has teh front page advert for jetXtra

That's my thinking! No way would MAG want to piss off Jet2, even if they are being pathetic.
Really hope they see sense and drop this legal challenge though, last thing any business needs is to be spending thousands of pounds lining a solicitors pocket! The worry is if CTT decide to just pull the plug on the flights instead of risking the fight, then we'll have Jet2 to thank for ruining the only good news we've had in ages!

On Travelmole the 'Spat' is top of the most commented stories, and all are on JeteXtra's side. All good publicity for the Company and HUY.

Jet2 must now put up or shut up. If they do nothing they will weaken any future case they take to court. This is becasue they will have failed to take action to mitigate their losses ( i.e. seek an injunction.) The option of letting the threat of action hang over JetXtra is not available.
I can't believe they are serious but who knows. Businesses are very precious about brand protection - some of it justfied some clearly not. They've suceeded in keeping JetXtra off the Humberside Airport website for a week now - maybe they'll think that was worth the cost of a solicitor's letter. Good to see HAT have continued to sell, and market packages, using the flights though.
It will be interesting to see developments next week and remember, Jet2 have already had 48 hours to apply for an injunction - have they???

This just keeps getting more and more ridiculous! www.jetxtra.com/News4.htmlJetxtra have now been told by the CAA to stop selling until Jet2 have made a decision on any legal action! Makes you wonder if the CAA have had a call/brown envelope from Jet2! Wouldn't be surprised if CTT just say forget it now, Jet2 could easily now take a few weeks to make a decision and that will do more damage then any legal action could, all with a little help from the 'unbias' CAA.
