I'm not quite sure if aircraft availability is the issue or not
From July onwards the 'slot' in the Strategic LCA based aircraft was due to be used into MAN. So I went and checked that, and it's still on sale on the Olympic website. I then went and checked a random May date expecting our dates to be moved to MAN, but no Wednesday Strategic LCA-MAN in May
So either we have lost the flight to an airport other than MAN, or the Strategic based aircraft in LCA doesn't start until July. All seems very odd when as you say just a couple of months ago the idea was to extend the operating season
May and June are likely to see major declines in passenger numbers now. Around 6 flights a week less year on year. FR(x2), AYT, a PMI, LCA and h4u DLM
Olympic are still showing Tor Air for Heraklion as well despite the fact they ceased flying a few weeks ago. I presume the fact it is still on sale means they expect to find an alternative airline, but Summer is getting ever nearer ...

In reality then, we could end up with just three charter flights this summer? Such a shame Cyprus Airways couldn't replace all of the lost Eurocypria routes out of LCA.
This surely must strengthen the argument for a based operation of some sort, as eventually there will be nothing left. I hope MAG are working on this, will we be almost as quiet as MME this year?

What will save the passenger figures from MME levels in Summer at least (as MME has a winter TFS charter) is the helicopter passengers. Also our AMS service is a lot busier than MME's
But it's certainly all looking rather bleak compared to just 3 weeks ago when jetXtra launched

Time for the new management team and MAG to stand up and be counted. No more excuses. It is an airport and airports need aircraft.I fail to believe that a company this size cannot pull a few punches and sort a deal or two out, even sharing flights with others in the group. The lifeblood flights are now failing to materialise.Very disappointing and worrying.Let's hope we don't follow down MME's route further.

Just spoken with Humberside Airport Travel, who say the Larnaca is on "stop sale" only until Olympic can sort out a new airline.
I find it incredible with all these airlines going bust why a company the size of Olympic cannot access some of the redundant aircraft, either on lease or at a good purchase price.

Huytiger, I suspect that Olympic dont want the expense of taking over an airline.. Its a shame Cyprus Airways cant take it on for the full season. The loss of Eurocypria was a great shame for the UK regionals they served, I flew with them from HUY a few times iver the last couple of years and they were an excellent airline.

May be unrelated but a post on pprune suggests Olympic have cut their ties with Tor Air.

Heraklion now showing as Strategic on the Olympic Holidays website, flight times look unchanged. Though I do wonder if Strategic is just a 'placeholder' as they seem to have been with Larnaca

Who was it supposed to be with before? So could HER be up for stop-sale before long too?

It had been down as Tor Air since Fly Hellas ceased operations. I presume Olympic feel confident enough that they can find a carrier, Strategic or someone else, not to put it on stop-sale. But not confident enough with Larnaca?
I don't doubt Olympic are struggling to find airlines but it's all a bit confusing at the moment

I would think the problem with LCA is that it cannot be operated on a w pattern from the UK, I'm not sure if the same applies to HER. Therefore it somewhat narrows the chances of finding an operator short of dead-legging an aircraft in from a UK base, which I would think is far from an ideal situation and probably costly.
