An interest in re-opening the Airport for commercial and general aviation has been expressed by a potential buyer who already has existing aviation businesses!

Ranks of empty tin-sheds is what the Council want. Prosperity is something beyond their ken!

The public meeting was very well attended and from a TV interview we now know that private investors are wanting to buy and run the airport!

I liked the suggestion from the resident delusioned elsewhere that established airports are struggling more than DSA. Shame SZD was never allowed to become 'established'.. Cant be much life left for DSA going by the SZD timeline..

The great difference is this....Peel paid £11million for Finningley and acquired a land-bank whereas at SZD ,simply by buying into an existing business park and stopping aviation they acquired a land bank for 'nowt! There was no encouragement either from the local authority to make the airport succeed when all they wanted was another field of tin-sheds!

Have to say though, they have no chance of a link to Heathrow and perhaps Andrew Cook should look at that in more detail.

I think they already know.... but when Leeds ( and we know the reasons ) has a several times a day service it makes Sheffielders ask the question..."Why"?

Spanner in the works?
The plans for HS2 plough straight through the terminal and taxiway and so will bring another talking point to the table for interested parties. Although HS2 and its being are a talking point in itself.
