Operates May 23rd-June 13th, July 18th-September 19th.
Shame the dates of operations haven't been extended, but good to see Enfidha back for next year, and more importantly Thomas Cook at least have one route on sale now. Hopefully Palma and Dalaman will follow soon

Once all summer 2013 routes are underway this week let's hope we see the 2014 routes being launched quickly by HAT and JetXtra.
Anybody got ideas what these will be?? I think ALC and PMI are likely to continue and I hope we'll see Malaga added. This route had good loads with Flybe and it's a good bread and butter sun route for the airport to add. There is a large ex-pat population in Andalusia and a large number of holiday home property owners also. All this makes it a better bet for 2 way traffic and route sustainability.

More hints about additional routes on social media. JetXtra Facebook "watch this space" when asked about progress with a Malaga route and " more to come" on Airport Twitter feed in conversation with aircraft chartering broker Smartflyjets.

Great to see lots of publicity in the local media about todays flights and lots of hints about next summer. It would be great to see a based a/c in 2014, and if this is to happen, I would expect it to be for part of the week, like we used to have with Airtours/My Travel a few years ago. I think the biggest restriction with the current set up is the range of the Volotea 717s, as the Canaries are just out of reach, and so would be I would imagine places like Crete and Cyprus, which are much missed from the airport and were always popular. I would hope next year we would see Palma, Alicante, Malaga, and perhaps Faro?

It's certainly an interesting post you make PUG. Paul LITTEN's job is to promote the airport rather than one of its customers and I thought it was a precise and effective response from somebody in that role. It was as though he was purposely avoiding to mention JETXTRA
The airport have no obligation to promote JETXTRA or its founder particularly when they are the ones carrying the financial risk when underwriting the operation.
I wish JETXTRA well in the venture but a lot of the reporting is inaccurate. They are not an airline. They are selling capacity on an ACMI product that has been brokered by Smart Aviation Ltd. I am not sure who started the flights but I would guess it was HUY travel, with the others coming on board later

I would like to echo Mr Mooses post regarding the range of 717's regarding Crete and Cyprus. I flew every year of its operation from HUY to HER and am now having to fly from LBA.

Will June see the launch of the new 2014 programme? Quite likely I would think. They need to make sure PMI and ALC continue to operate without hitch for a couple of weeks first.
A based aircraft, even for part of a week, would be great news - better flight times, more rotations, more involvement of HUY ground staff etc. The 717 would be ideal for all routes Paul Litten said he was hoping for and Volotea are looking to establish their charter business having appointed a specialist manager for this earlier this year.
JetXtra are saying the decision on whether to offer something for winter 2013/2014 has not yet been made. Maybe two or three special departures to the Canaries would be one option?? These would need to be on sale very soon.

I thinking jumping in with a week round base is not realistic for S14 - If you think an AC would operate to 2 different destinations per day, that would be 14 flights per week. Even if Volotea were to take TCX traffic on PLM, which would require 3 weekly flights (With around 50 extra seats per week), and ALC were to increase to twice weekly, throw in a Malaga or Faro weekly, you would still need to offer another 7 flights per week to occupy an aircraft. Part week basing would be a better idea, but would with Volotea being based in spain, it would likely mean an almost empty flight to/from spain each week, which would make the flights less cost effective. Does anybody know which airports Volotea have aircraft based?

Nantes, Venice and Bordeaux. Think they had an Ibiza base last Summer as well
(Their HQ is in Barcelona, but they don't serve BCN at all)

Volotea also have a base at Palermo. They have a fleet of 12 Boeing 717-2BL aircraft which have Rolls Royce BR715A-1-30 engines, which give them a range of 2,705km with 106 passengers. They are using this range to fly from Nantes to Fuerteventura and Tenerife (which is 2,477km). It is a pity that they do not have the High Gross Weight version of the Boeing 717. This is fitted with the more powerful Rolls Royce BR715C-1-30 engines, which give it a range of 3,593km with 117 passengers.
