Interesting conversion on the airport's twitter feed. They're saying that new summer 2015 routes will be announced soon. I understand that Thomson's first release of summer 2015 will take place 22nd of this month (or thereabouts) so maybe..... It will be good to have them back and they will sell their Humberside seats/holidays very easily. Off the charter topic, but interesting, the airport also talk about a return of SAS when things get into full gear in the off-shore wind industry. I note SAS as still selling Humberside-Copenhagen from the end of October over a week after the route was said to be cancelled. Maybe it is just suspended with a view to reviewing demand their capacity in the next few months?

Biggest hint yet that a return of Thomson is to be announced next week - see HUY's Twitter stream. Looks like it is a done deal - any speculation on routes???

Update: Just been confirmed on the airports twitter account that its Thomson Holidays starting weekly Tuesday flights to Palma (Majorca) next summer 2015 season
I must add its great news to see the return of a UK based major tour operator to Humberside airport, I suppose the flights will once again be operated by the companies in-house airline Thomson Airways by w-legging the Leeds/Bradford based aircraft and crews?

Springy - I think that there's demand for more than one Majorca flight a week so I don't suppose this announcement will de-rail any of Jetxtra's plans for next year. Also, they seem more interested to develop their Alicante route with its two-way traffic potential and might only want to operate PMI during the summer peak.
It will be interesting to see the Thomson flight details ( airline, time etc) next week - we only know it's on a Tuesday so far. Will more routes follow?? A poster on PPRUNE seems to think so "....TUI to fly from Humberside....Majorca initially"

Great news for the airport. Hopefully more routes will follow - Most of us could probably list several destinations that would work from HUY, but even if we just have Majorca for Summer 15 - it will be the first time Majorca has operated full season for a number of years (TCX operated late May - June, with a gap, then July - September). From what I have seen so far, it suggests the flights will operate full season May - October. The Tuesday departure is interesting as this is the day the DTVA departure to Majorca was due to operate from this year. I don't know how many schedule changes Thomson make each year, but my hunch would be the W leg moving here, So expect a Thomson Airways 738, arriving and departing early-mid afternoon (probably around 2pm).
I don't think it will upset JetXtra's Palma service - This operated at the same time as THomas Cooks last year, and asFyler says - I think Alicante is the route for JetXtra due to its 2 way traffic. IMHO they would be better getting rid of Majorca in Summer 15 and replacing it with somewhere else with good 2-direction traffic - Malaga springs to mind.

At its peak there were eight Majorca flights a week, so there should be no problem for either operator.

You could be onto something there MrMoose, from the airports twitter feed about the jetxtra Alicante flights: @dragonembers this year and next for Alicante.they also have Palma on sale for this year as well! No mention of Palma for next year... although they haven't released next summers flights so maybe the airport jumping the gun, or perhaps giving something away? Surely HUY can support two Palma flights though. I wouldn't be overly surprised to see Thomson charter in another carrier, they use Volotea out of Southampton and Germania out of Norwich.

Thomas Cook's 2015 summer sun holidays and flights are due to be released on 1st May according to their Facebook page. Fingers crossed for routes to be maintained at the very least.
No word yet about Jetxtra 2015. It was August last year so maybe it's a month or so away yet. I agree with mrmoose, somewhere like Malaga or Faro would be better bets for them if they are after ex-pat passengers.

I've just got my hands on a Thomson Summer 2015 brochure & it confirms the Majorca service will run on Tuesdays. However, there are no flight times or carrier information in the new brochure layout for the flight information so we will have to wait until tomorrow to find this information out.
With it now confirmed being a Tuesday service, I would say the aircraft used would be the Leeds Bradford based B737-800 aircraft that used to W leg into MME on a Tuesday afternoon.

Looks like the plane operates a W pattern into Humberside from Norwich (not LBA as predicted), and Aircraft is most likely to be an A319 (150 capacity), which although not the 738 as expected - I have no doubt Thomson will be able to sell 150 seats per week to Palma, and it pave the way for future growth from them.
All we need now is TCX to maintain their current offering and we could be looking at an enhanced summer charter programme for the first time in a few years!

Clearly fantastic news
Out of interest, how do you find out airline info for Thomson now the brochures don't have it? I've tried and failed tonight to find any looking on the Thomson website
