The Irish Independent says today that the takeover of Stobart Air by Cityjet will be signed next week. Interestingly the story also says that Cityjet are planning to base aircraft at SEN. Technically I suppose this could just describe the current ATR based at SEN but I anticipate that it may mean more than that. Well i am going to be optimistic for once and stick my neck out and say that the rumour that i have heard is going to be some much needed very good news for SEN, not long to go now before we find out for sure.

Whichever way you look at it the SJ100 could now operate into SEN and it's another box ticked for WX.

Perhaps I phrased my reply badly. What I meant was that the article didn't say that the aircraft had received the certification because Cityjet specifically planned to use it at SEN rather that SEN was one of the rare number of Europe's airports with a runway narrower than the usual standard. Obviously the main reason the aircraft has been certificated to use such runways is because it would be useless to Cityjet without it.
It would, however, be a coincidence if the press release from which the article was compiled just happened to mention SEN in passing. Florence would probably get a mention as it's on the Cityjet network and SEN may have been mentioned as it's their number one LCY diversion. So it's all a matter of interpretation - never easy. My post of 25th June 2016 in 'Progress' makes mention of possibly operating the SJ100s from SEN.
What I do find interesting is the post by tagron saying that Cityjet don't plan to use the SJ100 at LCY until late 2018. Now that could mean something for SEN and perhaps we shall find out what before the end of this coming week. I'll stick my neck out too and say that I think there will be some substantially good news for SEN from all this.

Ok thanks for the clarification expressflight, think I have a habit at the moment of putting 2 and 2 together, but fingers crossed for some good news from all this.

Well, I hope you're right chaps but I'm inclined to think that this is for diversionary use only. Too many disappointments over the past few years!

The current SEN-based ATR72 is supposed to be replaced by EI-FSK, which was delivered to Stobart Air a few weeks ago, this afternoon. Whether this is a permanent change I don't know.

It will be good to get the more modern aircraft based at SEN, lets hope so.

Apparently a Cityjet Sukhoi S100 is due in at SEN today at 1458, could this be the big announcement that we have been hoping for?

The Sunday Times today reports that the "merger" of Cityjet and Stobart Air is expected to be completed by the end of this month following an intensification of negotiations in recent weeks. I haven't read the whole story as I'm not a subscriber to The Times Online service so I don't know if SEN is mentioned.

Suspect that a deal has been agreed, but they're just sorting out the fine grain details.

Perhaps those fine grain details include a decision over the much talked of SEN operation.

Been waiting for this Cityjet/Stobart announcement for what seems like ages, surely its got to be some good news for SEN this time. I wonder if the so called SEN operation has been a bit of a stumbling block in the recent negotiations, lets hope not, as the rumours i have heard were all very positive,as well as the visit of the Sukhoi SJ100 for ground handling trials a few weeks ago. Its wait and see time again i guess.

The article does suggest that this is a takeover by Cityjet rather than a true merger, which may be bad news for SEN.

Yes devonian it is a Cityjet takeover that has been known for some time now but hopefully Stobart has negotiated a deal that Cityjet will operate at least a few routes from SEN, after all Stobart badly need the extra routes and pax if they are to get anywhere near their much quoted 2.5 million pax by 2018.
