Better news indeed Tugman.Looks like they plan to try May through to August for Alicante.

It looks as if the planned capacity is about 2,400 seats. This was the eventual outcome this year after the cancellations. That of course assumes that the BA E190 and E170 are available.

Summer season flights with Jetxtra now uploaded on the search box of their site. Good to see flights are still with BACF. Seems the season is the same as this year. Alicante has flights over spring bank holiday and end of July to end of August. Palma only end July to end August.

Looks like Jetxtra Alicante and Palma have gone off sale. No longer on the airport website and nothing for sale on jetxtra.com at the moment! Anyone know anything about this???

Don't know anything - hopefully just sorting out aircraft capacity/re-tendering the charter etc - but I wouldn't be surprised if the flights vanished. Alicante Passenger figures speak volumes
2013 Season - 2992 2014 Season - 1714 2015 Season - 1384 2016 Season - 1130 2017 Season - 928
Palma is more challenging due to the TUI effect - No idea on yield either etc, but the number of flights has been cut each year, which suggest its perhaps marginal or loss making on some flights - maybe its just not worth it? Huge commitment financially to charter an aircraft. Hopefully somebody else will step in, and/or the flights will be re-instated on their booking engine shortly...

Well, disappointing but Jetxtra will not be offering flights from Humberside any longer. Not sure what this means for the future of the brand but it gives certainty to Humberside after a period, which started last season, of now you see them (flights), now you don't!
Will anyone be interested in the routes? It would need an operator with good sales capability.

I doubt they will be replaced to be honest (regretfully). The only exception I can see is if it was brought in house by Eastern, but not sure how this would sit with Flybe partners operating down the road at DSA, and if they have enough clout to go it alone and sell that capacity week in week out?

Real shame but it seems to have been on the cards for a while, I think Monarch going under has put the spooks into some companies, the Med is a bloodbath, even Norwegian were saying the other month they are dropping Med routes as fares are just too low to make money. Maybe it will improve as Turkey etc come back into play and carriers shift more capacity away from Spain.
I don't think this has been helped by the rising holiday costs for Spain either, the Spanish hotels have really put their prices up recently, it's getting ridiculously expensive during peak summer and many people will rightly start to opt for cheaper destinations.
Can't see anyone else stepping in either, not while flybe are offering these routes at DSA at a fraction of what a charter operation would cost. Even the mighty Thomson/TUI don't seem interested in expanding.

Can't see Turkey ever regaining its former position. Who in their right minds are going to risk their lives going to a Muslim country these days?

Funny enough, there was a Travel Weekly article just today saying Jet2 are increasing their turkey capacity by 600,000 seats this summer!
People will still go where it's cheap since they can now get two weeks in Turkey for the price of one in Spain
