New route to be announced Chateauroux to SEN twice weekly from late April 2018 by IGAvion and operated by it parent company Sky Taxi so not a start up.

The IGAvion online timetable shows CHR-SEN flights commencing on April 26 and running twice weekly through to December 13. This latter date may seem unusual but it also applies to some of their other services.
The days of operation vary throughout the period: Thursday/Sunday at the beginning of the period, Tuesday/Sunday then Tuesday/Friday mid season then finally Thursday/Sunday again for autumn and winter. Schedule times seem to change throughout - early morning, middle of the day, and evening. |
Fare prices appear to be moving upwards. From the initial 49 euros each way prices are up to 119 euros for some flights. One would like to think this is encouraging. But there is not a mention of it from SEN !

With less than a week to go before the start of SEN services, IGAvion have put back the first operation to May 17.
Its not just the SEN flights that are affected. Their services from Chateauroux to Biarritz, Lyon, Nice and Toulouse now only start in June. So for the first 2-3 weeks, the SEN route will be the only one operating. That's according to thew timetable at present.

There must be some doubt they will base an aircraft at CHR to operate just a 2 x weekly SEN route for the couple of weeks until the other routes start.

Looks like a flying visit today from Chateauroux for publicity purposes; I think it's going out to Hannover afterwards.

I think it will have pax on board as it seems that it will operate SEN-CHR on Sunday, presumably taking the weekending pax back home.

Wow, that was quick. Here's to a (nother) successful niche route starting today then. Good that SEN can offer the LON capacity for these start-up routes that other LON airports cannot, or are too pricey, to entertain.

It looks like the SEN-CHR flights in April/May that disappeared from the timetable are in process of being reinstated, though some are shown as "please be patient....". The other French internal routes are still shown as not starting until June. At a guess perhaps Sky Taxi will use the time between the SEN services in May for light freight ad hoc charter which is what they appear to do successfully during winters .
There is plenty of coverage of the SEN route on the IGAvion and CHR airport social media sites. A survey conducted a few weeks ago suggested that London would be the most popular of the new destinations. There was even a link to an article (which I could not find) on the best fish and chip shops in London. And a good move by SEN to give the arriving SF3 a water cannon welcome .

Nextjet, the Swedish operator of Bae ATPs filed for bankruptcy yesterday. This cannot be good news for IGAvion/SkyTaxi, since their SF340s have been carrying out considerable amounts of contract work for Nextjet in recent weeks including right up to and including yesterday when flights were cancelled'
Late addition (May 18) At least they managed to retrieve their aircraft quickly. Positioned Pori (Finland) to Wroclaw (home base) then on to CHR It seems the city of Pori was financing part of the Nextjet operation, Pori was the base for the SF340 so maybe SkyTaxi will be able to recover payment direct from the city's subsidy fund ?
