Am I the only one to find it strange that the airport puts out the following tweet on the new Catania route: Twitter"We've got a great new route to Catania (Sicily) launching on 8th May with @airmalta. Sicily boasts scorching sun, great scenic historical landmarks and dazzling sandy beaches. Tempted? Flights are priced from £35 one way per person* Book at airmalta.com *Terms apply" The problem is, the CTA flights actually start on Monday the 7th May -there are no CTA flights on Tuesdays. Basic fact checking would surely prevent such a howler...

The Air Malta SEN flights are bookable for the forthcoming winter. Cagliari and Catania continue to the Xmas period then appear to stop. Malta direct continues from then on to the end of March at 3 per week.

The Air Malta schedule no longer shows the SEN services reducing in December. Instead they are planned ot carry on at the current daily frequency right through to mid August, including the Catania and Cagliari transits (two each per week as at present).

Yes, that's good news and certainly justifies the carrier's faith in Southend. I understand that all their routes have been doing reasonably well this summer, even the Malta with the competition from EZY. I guess forward bookings must have shown optimism too.
