From today's Yorkshire Post Business Section www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/business/business-news/increase_in_flights_hailed_success_by_airline_1_3969334The comments about HUY are a bit contradictory. On one hand AF-KLM want to acheive stability, yet they report load factor growth of nearly 2% - that is stability, and starting to grow So if load factors are clearly stable, is there a yield issue? It's a shame it's a mostly LBA focused article as otherwise we might have got some detailed comments about HUY. The lack of plans to add more flights is disappointing but with average load factors in the 70%'s then clearly there is room to grow with the current schedule. And as is seen with comments about LBA, and also in other articles about other airports, AF-KLM seem prepared to add capacity when it is needed. So if HUY can continue load factor growth at good yields then I'm sure we would get the 4th daily back when needed And rather wierd the comment about no AF-KLM employees at HUY (or LBA) that is supported by the spokesperson quote. Obviously incorrect and rather embarrasing that the spokesperson obviously doesn't know what they are talking about Anyway the article should remind business travellers across Yorkshire that HUY-AMS exists

It does read slightly negative of HUY, but looking at the monthly loads, we have seen large monthly increases over last year, with also some small negative growth (probably due to 3 instead of 4 daily flights). I suspect that is what they are getting at.
So long as they remain committed to HUY that is the main thing, and hopefully loads will continue to improve over the coming months and years.
One positive is that the article mentions offshore oil and gas industry as one of the sectors that use their services, and that sector is strong in the Humber region (and poised to grow should Siemens and others go ahead with their renewables plans).

I believe the Allams are frequent users of the KLM service, and have been known to sing the praises of KLM/HUY during interviews etc.. I agree that it cant do any harm either, and potentially advertised to a wide audience.

Can now ticket- through with KLM to Malaga via AMS. Lo-co Transavia do the AMS - AGP leg of journery. Quite a good (not cheap) price as well. Limited flight dates during winter of course. Not sure if this applies to the other Transavia holiday sun routes.

Some guy on Forums4airports saying KLM are going to DSA, they did not look at the date of the rumour on the DSA thread 2009, many other members have passed comments, i wish people would look before they leap.

Looks like KLM and Transavia are now code sharing for all Transavia's sun routes ex Amsterdam. This opens up places such as the Spanish costa's and Spanish cities ( e.g. Valencia, Seville) from Humberside via AMS. Not lo-co prices of course but then lo-co prices are no longer low during peak season.
I will certainly price this option when looking to book peak season. Having experienced Transavia during the winter snow problems I must say they are a very professional outfit.

I see from the Grimsby Telegraph that HAT have put together some packages for european sun holidays (costa del sol, canaries, costa blanca) via Amsterdam. No doubt Transavia will pick-up at AMS. Haven't seen this before - could this be part of the committment of the new owners to boost KLM passenger numbers from Humberside.
For anyone interested, based on my experience, Transavia are head and shoulders above all the English lo-co's and Ryanair in terms of service quality.

An interesting concept, and not something very common in the leisure market. I suspect it might struggle to sell in huge numbers on routes where there are direct flight available from other airports in the region, unless the price is right of course - Out of curiosity, how well were they priced - I have tried a seach on the klm page, but Palma and Malaga are coming up as not available for April. I also tried Madrid, which came up at £209 return which is very cheap - certainly less than I would have expected
Many leisure passengers would probably have never 'transferred' flights before and would probably find it off putting and would rather travel an extra half an hour or so to DSA/LBA/EMA and go direct.

I agree, this is not a tactic to attract volume but a small number of additional passengers can make a difference to yield and introduce more people to the notion of using HUY as a feeder.
Prices advertised include 9 night half board Costa Del Sol 4* in February £435 and 8 nights Benidorm 4*, half board in March £398. Canaries a couple of hundred more approx. Not bad at all.
I've travelled this way to Malaga independently a couple of times and the prices compared very favourabley when you add the cost of travel ( and hassle) of going to EMA, MAN or LBA. Thomson DSA always too expensive when I've wanted to travel.
