There are suggestions on another forum that indicate that there is more likely to be an upgrade to the E190 rather than a fourth rotation. Apparently Cardiff will have an E190 on one rotation next summer. Leeds/Bradford has had its fourth rotation fully withdrawn (I.e. not merely for the winter season).

KLM have today announced orders for aircraft which will replace the Fokker 70 fleet. The orders are for 2 Embraer 190 and 15 Embraer 175+ (88 seats) aircraft,. Deliveries will take place between December 2015 and June 2018.

A straight swap of Fokker 70's for EMB-175's with no schedule change on HUY-AMS would therefore mean an extra 8 seats available per flight. Would help out if there are any full peak time flights

I believe that today is the 40th anniversary of the Amsterdam service (going back to the Air Anglia days?). Long may it continue!

The Rough Guide has ranked 10 cities in the World which it recommends should be visited in 2016. Amsterdam was listed as No.7 and Hull was at No.8. This might help fill some of the extra seats on the E190 aircraft.

I'm not sure how highly regarded this Rough Guide is, but I find it hard to believe that it would generate visitors in significant numbers. Many of the cities on the list are well established tourist destinations already, and to be brutally honest, I don't think Hull really has all that much to offer.
What is important is the 'investment' going on at the Port of Hull and on the south bank, which may hopefully prove fruitful in the long term. That should be a real source of sustainable passenger growth.

That's a year too early for Hull. The City Centre is half dug up at the moment as Hull gets ready for 2017!

Rough Guides are obviously adding a bit of variety to this year's listing. Apparently they have felt that the city has been under-rated for some time. It certainly has a lot to offer anyone who is interested in architecture. Last summer, Grantham Civic Society had no trouble in filling a bus for a day trip to Hull and the members were very impressed with what they saw. There is an impartial architectural critique of the city on jonestheplanner.co.uk
Edit 08/01/16 Scale Lane Bridge has just been named as one of the 20 most outstanding in the World by the American organisation, Popular Mechanics.

In August 2014 and 2015 there were no Sunday afternoon KL1497 arrivals. This August they have been restored, so there will be 5 more rotations compared with August 2015.

I am regularly do HUY-AMS-HAM and return. I have at times been quoted up to Euro900 one way and normally pay about Euro300. Even using my air-miles it is often cheaper to use EasyJet to Manchester and take 1st class train to York! Its not like you get extra legroom with KLM unless you are business/premium economy and the sandwich (spot the filling) and coffee certainly don't warrant such a big price difference. Ryanair have now started on the MAN-HAM route with fares starting at a tenner!! If you have a long-haul connection then KLM/AF are hard to beat on price and the new B787-9s are a real treat, especially compared to BA.

The KLM average fare table is very interesting as it shows such a wide spread from $253 to $65.
The top 5 highest yielding airports have no direct competition.
The top 4 airports serve energy-related industries.
Newly-introduced routes have the lowest yields. (Southampton is the lowest at $65.79 - Flybe also provides competition.)
Heathrow competition from British Airways tends to pull down the average fare (for example Glasgow at $112.78). The only exception is Aberdeen at $253.21. As these are 2016 figures, it is surprising that the depressed oil price did not drag the Aberdeen yield down.
Inverness is new and has U.K. competition from BA and EZY. The average fare is only $108.05. Nevertheless, KLM are to introduce a second daily rotation for the duration of the summer 2017 season.
