What is the situation with the Heliport? I guess CHC dug their heels in when they lost the BP contracts and Bristow moved in. I wonder if there is the possibility of all three operators sharing the Heliport (just like a regular terminal)? Or maybe Bristow prefer to operate out of the main terminal. Or maybe there is just not the aircraft capacity at the Heliport - particularly with the Police facility.

I was under the impression CHC owned the lease on the heliport?

Pug. That's what I thought - and that's why they have bargaining power. They were obviously desperate to maintain a presence at the airport. However, things might change when the lease is up for renewal!

Dont CHC still operate on some contracts out of HUY still? Perhaps Bond may be able yo use the heliport with their single aircraft too.

I was under the impression that CHC,as you rightly state,Pug,own the lease and do not want to play ball. The fact that some of the contracts were "lost" to Bristow's did not sit well, obviously. What a waste of a facility though. Good to see another operator at Humberside.I still believe that helicopter operations on Stand 1, whilst fixed wing aircraft are using Stands2/3 ,is not ideal and should have been sorted out a long time ago.Since this has happened, one of the gates has been made available, exclussivly at times,to the helicopter passengers, the departure lounge split(you can't mix N Sea pax with airline pax apparently)and some ground operations(i.e. push back and equipment storage) have had to be changed,so I am told.He who pays the piper.....
Is the rise of Helicopter flights and the decline(or reservations to returning/starting) holiday traffic linked? I hope not.

I would say absolutely not. The huge decline in leisure flights from HUY is a mixture of closure and consolidation consolidation leaving fewer airlines, and the poor economic situation meaning markets like Humberside not looking so attractive. There are still one or two leisure airlines out there that appreciate loyalty that comes from local markets, just remains to be seen whether they are interested in HUY in the short term.
The new flights from Lowcostholidays, reinstatement of Thomas Cook's flights plus Enfidha and the promise of more to come would suggest that effort is being made to attract new leisure traffic.
I would also expect that when leisure traffic reaches sufficient leves, then something will be done to accomodate the helicopter passnegers elsewhere on the airport. Even if it meant bussing them from the heliport to the stands.

It mentioned Bond starting at HUY on Rad Hum this morning, saying that 15 new jobs have been created,
Edit Look North today Thursday saying that 50 new jobs are to be created.
