Passengers set to travel with Darwin Airline from Cambridge Airport have been left in the dark after hearing reports that their flights no longer exist.
Darwin Airline, who recently partnered with Etihad Regional, advertised flights from Cambridge Airport to major European cities including Paris, Amsterdam and Milan.
Douglas Hall booked two flights this year and has had both changed.
He said: “The airport is very convenient so I booked to go to Italy for a meeting. Five days before my flight they told me it was cancelled.
“I also booked a flight to America to avoid the hassle of having to go to London. Then they changed the time of my flight in Amsterdam so I couldn’t get the connection
“They have given no reason for these cancellations. We have not managed to fly with them yet.
“I was trying to encourage my employees to fly locally with them but it’s proving impossible.”
Another traveller, who does not wish to be named, was booked to go to Paris with Darwin next week but was told the airline that the flight had been cancelled.
He said: “I am totally in favour of being able to fly locally from Cambridge so I would like to use this service but I’m disappointed with the response of Darwin Airline.”
Both are still waiting for refunds, but have been told it could take three months.
Cambridge Airport confirmed yesterday that routes had been changed by the airline – and flights to Paris and Milan had been removed.
A Cambridge Airport spokesman said: “Darwin Airline have reviewed their routes a couple of months ago when they took over and two routes now no longer exist.
“Whoever is booked on an existing flight has been rebooked with the airline at a time that suits them but people who are trying to book other flights to those destinations now won’t be able to.”
Darwin Airline were not available for comment.
