Interesting story of the type of situation that takes me back 40 years! Good to see that expertise, professionalism and a 'can do' spirit is still very much alive in the industry.

I see that the frequency of the Brescia-Bari shuttle for Poste Air Cargo has doubled this week to two rotations per day on five days of the week. Jota twitter page implies the third freighter G-JOTE will be back in service soon.
G-SMLA has been withdrawn from Service and ferried to Cranfield. Possibly the last flight of a passenger BAe146-200 in Europe ?
As regards the Biggin announcement a "base" can mean almost anything. I can't see them giving up their maintenance facility at SEN unless of course there are things in the pipeline I don't know about. And they seem to have been getting night slots recently for their returning positioning flights.

I think that JOTA would be extremely short-sighted to totally ditch SEN for BQH, remember what happened when British World decamped to STN? They didn't last too long after that.
Problems with BQH from an operational point of view (as well as the operational hours) include that it has an ILS on only 1 end of the runway, with no IAP on the other end, necessitating instead a visual manoeuvre after flying the ILS to the other end. Couple that with the aerodrome elevation and it's propensity for being fog/low-cloud bound, and more likely to have snow settle, the risk of diversion is a lot higher than SEN.
I could go on: No runway centreline lighting makes departing in fog conditions less likely; the runway is rather 'undulating' to the point there are warnings to this effect in the AIP about sight-lines; RVR readings are sub-standard because of this - the maximum RVR that can be given is in region of 750-800m.
I wonder if this announcement is something to do with Formula One? Perhaps they are looking to 'greenwash'/improve their CO2 emissions by ditching their aviation arm and outsourcing? Pure speculation on my part, of course!
