I've heard that it's now a new team running the jetxtra.uk operation from sportings events global and the original team who ran jetxtra.com are no longer involved, this explains why the marketing and sales efforts are incredibly poor compared to previous years.
It'll be interesting to see what happens, but the fact Malaga was dropped so quickly and they don't seem to be marketing doesn't give much confidence it'll last long term under this new ownership, it's a shame as they did seem to be doing well under the old regime. Hopefully Thomson can see an opportunity to put on some more flights in future or things could become bleak on the charter front.

I tend to agree with christ- the old Jetxtra.com people were more assertive and effective in their sales and marketing approach. They had a simple website but it worked and was easy to understand and navigate.
However, on the positive side, it's a good sign that Sporting Events Global have contracted flights for 2016 and have seats on sale for Alicante and Palma. The calendar on their website works at last and it's possible to get prices up for next year. The site in general remains confusing and contains a lot of blank pages and out of date information. They've had 2 or 3 adverts in the Grimsby Telegraph for their flights which is good.
The trademark dispute over the name Jetxtra could go on for a while yet. I don't suppose we'll hear what plans,if any,the previous team (now registered as Jetxtra Holidays Limited in the UK and Jetxtra Holidays sl in Palma) have for Humberside or elsewhere until it is resolved. Whatever, I agree with christ, HUY should focus on working with Thomson to add a route or two.

I think HUY will always be a very distant second to DSA as far as new destinations are concerned.. History tells us that there are plenty of viable (and previously long lasting) destinations that are popular with the local market, but unfortunately if HUY are serious about that sector then they have to think modern. There are two 'big players' remaining in the IT market now, Thomson and Thomas Cook, all of the traditional low cost airlines will be following the Jet2 lead in the coming years and starting to offer proper package holidays. Owning hotels will likely become a thing of the past and TUI will be forced to develop its strategy further. Whether this means going down the route of fewer destinations and more specialist packages as they did with First Choice remains to be seen. But there will be troubled times ahead for these operators when the likes of Ryanair and easyjet get on board... The link below suggests consolidation under one Europe-wide brand and structure in an attempt it seems to strengthen their core operation.. www.breakingtravelnews.com/news/article/tui-group-confirms-demise-of-thomson-and-first-choice/Therefore it is, in my opinion, important for HUY to try and steal a lead on this now. Start talking to these major low cost leisure airlines... That is if they really are interested in that sector.

Extract from Humberside Airport Twitter feed on 19th August.
Marinos@Marlioz28. @humberside it will be nice to have some Greek and Cyprus destination next year!!
@marlioz28 We could not agree more, keep your fingers crossed!
Is this a live rumour or merely a comment on the current state of the Greek re-financing negotiations?

The Olympic Holidays website has a section showing UK airports from which one can depart. It seems to be in the course of being revised because the number of airports served varies from 24 to 13 (which includes HUY) depending on which link you press. Humberside is shown as having flights to Greece and Cyprus and is served by a range of carriers including Thomas Cook Airlines. Obviously, this could be some old information which has been left on the site for several years. However, the last flight to Heraklion from HUY was operated by Aegean in 2012. The 2011 flights to Herakion and Larnaca were operated by Viking Hellas. The last Thomas Cook Airlines flight from HUY was to Palma in 2012.
Edit Treat this with great caution as Glasgow is shown as having flights operated by British Midland.

Jetxtra Facebook and twitter advertising May Bank Holiday Majorca holidays (on 21st and 28th) for the first time. For the last two years they've only offered May dates to Alicante. These flights are not bookable on their web site (yet??). Doesn't surprise me because it's still a barely navigable site!

Every little helps. If I were JetXtra I would be focusing on getting Alicante up and running full season (April-Oct) with reasonable (and profitable) loads on the E170. Operating flights for short 2-3 week periods makes operating those flights costly, and making them less competitive against a drive down to EMA to jump on a £50-£100 Ryanair flight - particularly if your hand baggage only. Of course I have no idea if they currently make any money, or how the breakdown of sales is split between packages, and flight only - but I am sure with the right marketing to Ex-pats, the Alicante route has great potential, and could be a money spinner.
Getting that website sorted out must the a high priority now though - a reasonable website with booking facilities isnt cheap, but I am sure somebody with moderate knowledge could put something together much better than the current set up.

Looks like Sporting Events Global have secured the name Jetxtra.com for themselves. The original Jetxtra people are now behind a new venture called Jetsgo Holidays operating out of Palma. They have just launched weekly flights from Manchester to Palma for the 2016 summer season using Small Planet. No mention on their website about Humberside flights. wwww.jetsgoholidays.com.

Interesting development, and I wonder what this means for the long term Humberside offering.

Teleticket have been selling the Alicante and Palma flights for a couple of years on their site, given HUY's press release wording, it sounds as if Teleticket are now chartering the aircraft rather than JetxtraUK, or maybe they've split the seats between the two of them. If I remember rightly, back before the recession, Teleticket used to have their own charter flights from some regional airports, maybe they are getting back into it.

Some good prices on there too, £160 for a return flight inc baggage during June/July and the packages seem competitive too, an all inclusive for £250 on their home page at the moment! Wonder if they could be tempted to come to HUY with those prices!

Have Thomson rolled out their full S16 program now?

Pug - I think that they usually release everything for the following summer by early December - last announcements around the time of the December brochure issue. In the last couple of years this has been the first week of that month. But the honest answer to your question is "don't know" but if the past is anything to go by, it will be a couple of weeks before we will know that everything is on the market.

Jetxtra.com have a new website (at last). Booking engine not working properly - teething troubles? - but it looks much more professional. Clearly Sporting Events Global are continuing to use the Jetxtra brand which is good for the airport as it has been around for 3 seasons and will have a profile. Now they need to think about adding routes even if only for the summer peak.
