Looks like Thomson / First choice have a Thursday flight pencilled in for the winter season more than likely Tenerife At the moment nothing is bookable for any UK airports but Humberside is showing in the booking engine and flights due to be released i believe in the next few weeks

very very promising indeed - I am getting the same thing at this side (Thursday Tenerife from HUY pickable in the menus, depending which options you enter first - but no results on searching).
Final Summer 16 brochures, and Winter 16/17 1st edition brochures are usually out/on sale around the end of this month I think, so keep our fingers crossed!

That would be very very good news if it happens. Growth, charter flights year round, and a sign that Thomson are happy with their performance at HUY

I agree, looking like some positive movement from them.. A year round TFS would be welcome I'm sure.

Flight details for Tenerife from Humberside appeared on the Thomson flights page for a couple of days last week. It showed a TOM 07.25 Thursday departure out of TFS and a departure at 13.30 out of HUY. Fairly good times as most resorts are very near TFS so whilst it's an early start back and a tea-time arrival in TFS these times are not too much of a put-off. This page is not there now but, as said above, HUY is still showing on the menu for TFS next winter. From memory I think thomson release first week December as a rule so a week or two before an announcement maybe. Looking positive - virtually no risk of this route not being a total success for them.

Not massive news but a step in the right direction. It must be 6 or 7 years since there was a weekly winter charter program?

Winter 2008-2009 was the last time there were regular weekly flights - when TCX had an outstationed aircraft for half the week. There was also Austrian Arrows to Innsbruck and Thomson to Alicante
It seems the flight may have been moved from Norwich. The Thomson Flights timetable just has a Sunday flight loaded for NWI-TFS next Winter and opposed to Thursday and Sunday this winter

Winter 2008/2009 had a capacity of about 47,000 at a time when charter traffic was falling sharply at HUY. (Summer 2009 capacity about 96,000 versus 193,000 in summer 2008). Summer capacity was generally about three times the volume of winter capacity, so there is scope for one or two summer routes to re-appear at HUY. If the Tenerife route has been transferred from Norwich, it is worth noting that the Flybe expansion at Exeter and Norwich was announced on 8th October. This is well before the Doncaster announcement, which could provoke a further reaction.

If this works out, its great news for Humberside, the first regular winter charter for 8 years, and the first new regular charter since Tunisia was launched. I doubt it is linked to the Flybe expansion personally, but obviously them moving into DSA from next year will have an impact on their seat only sales - where they can, and do currently charge a premium for DSA comapred to typical fares with other operators out of EMA, LBA & MAN. If they respond to this by expanding at HUY, tweaking their DSA offering, or reducing their prices (or combination of), only time will tell. In terms of figures, assuming a B738 (which as TOM seems to be the likely operator, the most likely type), thats almost an extra 10000 seats over 6 months, so quite a significant increase in passengers.
Hope they also add extra departures for Summer 16 - we should find out in the next few weeks if so...
Of course, as always, until its on the tarmac it can all change - Lets not forget we were in the brochures for Palma & Ibiza in Summer 14, but it never went on sale.

Tenerife holidays flying with Thomson from HUY next winter are now available on some travel sites e.g Sunshine.co.uk and Co-operative Travel. Don't know if the holiday details they show eventually lead to a "not yet available" or similar message - they probably do at this time - but it looks like this route is really going ahead and we only need wait for the announcement.

I don't think this has any bearing on what's happening at DSA. I still believe that it may be prudent for HUY to target FR for the ALC type destinations.. I think this is an attempt to serve more local markets as TOM have done well at this historically.. However, I think the scope for much from them is limited and would be dropped at the first sign of any tough trading conditions (such as what happened on Friday) and a retreat back to DSA will be seen..

Thomas Cook have now started to up-load holidays from Humberside to Tenerife using the Thursday flight. Thomson due to release up-dated summer 2016 and short/medium haul winter 2016/2017 sometime late next week or the early part of the week after.

Thomson's web site booking calendar now showing flights from Humberside on Mondays and Thursdays throughout the winter. No indication at all as to the destination for the Monday flight. Could, of course, be an error. I'm told brochures should be out this Thursdays - not definite though as there have been delays this year.
