Start-up/virtual airline planning flights from Osijek in Croatia to SEN. Competition comes from FR at STN (where they originally planned to fly from). Eff. 24 March 2016 (2x weekly, Thurs/Sun) and I believe year round, as fares are available up to September at present. Specific aircraft not mentioned yet, but the types they plan to use are Boeing 737-300, EMB 145, and the EMB 190. Free one-way train ticket to Liverpool Street for those arriving. Still waiting for confirmation from either airport, but the train ticket initiative is a SEN marketing ploy which is a positive sign. However, they have had failed launches before which makes me slightly skeptical. I guess SEN are not in a position to say no at the moment. www.sea-air.hr/en/news/article/sea-air-introduces-new-air-line-osijek-london

About Sea Air:
SEA AIR d.o.o. does not have its own Air Operator Certificate ( AOC ) and is therefore operating all flights under the flight number of other Airlines which are Chartering the Aircrafts to Sea Air d.o.o.
SEA AIR d.o.o. will do its best to obtain a new Air Operator certificate during the year 2015 /2016 from the Croatian Civil Air Office.

Difficult to see this working; Osijek airport handled a total of 25,000 passengers last year. SEN needs services to major, or at least second tier, destinations.

Is this service operating or not I have ask the airport but they have not responded, I am told tickets are onsale in Croatia? I think this is a wait and see but not a very positive response SEN management.

I can well understand SEN not wishing to make any announcement about this at the moment. Sea Air are a virtual airline with no track record and in my view there is no certainty that they will commence operations in March. With Ryanair already operating to Osijeck from STN it's difficult to see how they can compete at the relatively high fare levels they need to charge. I wish all start-ups well but this is one I would not be booking with at the moment.

It all looks rather doubtful to me and, as wetlanding says, there seem to be two Sea Air companies involved. A case of 'wait and see what happens' I think.
It does seem very odd that Osijek-Southend is still bookable this morning on the Sea Air Croatia website for a flight on 24 March - next Thursday.

After doing a bit of research on the Yahoo SouthendEGMC forum it seems that there is a Maleth Aero B733, 9H-AJW, at Lasham being prepared for operation by Sea Air under the Maleth Aero AOC. It seems that it isn't due for completion of its check there until 10 April 2016.

Also just seen this expressflight: www.latestpilotjobs.com/jobs/view/id/7188.htmlAppears they are looking for pilots for the 737-300 which will be based at SEN for charters (presumably for Sea Air?). At Sea Air's proposed new Paderborn base they have announced 5 summer routes (Pula, Almeria, Malaga, Palma Mallorca and Ibiza) all operating throughout the week on 3 and 2 weekly frequencies from the 22 April (also worth noting that this was announced in collaboration with PAD Airport itself). Could they propose something similar from SEN? What do you think?

Yes, that could tie in with something that I heard although that was with reference to another aircraft type being used on Med flights not B733 equipment but it could be the same outfit. Certainly with a SEN-based aircraft they must have plans for it other than a daily SEN-MUC-SEN and twice weekly SEN-OSI-SEN service. Perhaps something will be forthcoming from SEN on this soon.

I am suspicious of the scheduling of the SEN-OSI service as published. It shows a total time for the rotation of 7 hours 30 minutes. The great circle distance is only 806 nms, which is very similar to SEN-ALC (799 nms) which easyJet perform in 5.45. So some adjustment looks likely here.
Searching for more info on Maleth-Aero I note that they already operate a B733 QC and a B733 in VIP configuration, the latter based at BHX as of last month. The names of the key personnel suggest that its management background is UK/Ireland, as opposed to (say) Mediterranean.
As to their intentions for the SEN base, the recruiting notice states ACMI and charter. How well will this fit with their Sea Air schedules ? One should not lose sight of the environmental limit on B733 operations at SEN - 2150 ATMs per annum, which, for example, would be met by one aircraft flying three rotations a day throughout the year, the level of utilisation that could be generated by additional scheduled services if that was the plan. Unlikely scenario ? Probably but worth thinking about !

Well there does seem to be some basis for hope that this proposal will actually amount to something. A good point about the ATM limit on the B733 - I hadn't noticed that this sub-type was particularly noisy, certainly not in comparison to the 737-200s of fond memory.

Yes, I agree about the noise.I can't help wondering if someone confused the variants.
And why not the -400 which is bigger and heavier and has the same engines as the -300 but operating to higher thrust levels ?

There is a new schedule on the Sea Air website :
OSI Dep 1630. SEN arr 1755 SEN Dep 1900 OSI arr 2255
Thursdays and Sundays, apparently operated by an OSI based aircraft, fitting in with their other planned schedules from OSI .
Right now there is no schedule published for SEN-MUC nor does it appear on the drop down booking list
