1998 was a year of significant change at HUY following the acquisition of AirUK by KLM. The name was changed to KLMuk and the airline's sole purpose was to feed the Amsterdam hub. Other Stansted routes were hived off by creating a low-fares airline called Buzz, which produced losses and was sold to Ryanair. KLMuk dropped the HUY/ABZ route, resulting in the resurrection of Eastern Airways with the assistance of the Icelandic airline Islandsflug and their Swearingen Metro fleet. There was also a British Airways service on the Aberdeen route with a single weekday J41 rotation.

Taken in the same month, these photos show the final dark blue AirUK colour scheme. There were three weekday Fokker 100 rotations to Amsterdam.

Great photos, a time when the airport was much busier and things were looking up!

Brilliant! These are wonderful photos!
Does anyone know the largest number of big jets ever on the apron?
Regards

In terms of 'mainline' aircraft, I do have a photo of two Air Europa tails 'sandwiching' an Airtours tail (plus an Eastern Jetstream 32). Must have been early 2000's. Not scanned in though
