The Brussels route had been performed for Eurodirect by Eurodirect Belgie, employing a J31. It had been successful and the airline were anxious to continue, so they re-started the service on 3rd April 1995. A further improvement to the Brussels route came in October 1995 when Eurodirect Belgie operated as part of the Sabena network. The Sabena timetable for Humberside shows 47 connections which they were able to provide in Brussels.

Remember the 1994 air show as Eurodirect ATP’s were being used for pleasure flights (previous year it was Air UK Friendship). Also remember the Brussels link operated by the Jetstream well into 1996 when it was unfortunately pulled. Don’t recall the short lived LCY route (forget the name of the operator), however only three new scheduled routes have started since 1996. Those being AF Gill to CDG, CPH with SAS and the Sun Air route a couple of years ago. When you look at what the airport has had and lost, seems the place would have been significantly busier pre COVID had those routes continued or taken over by other operators. I’ve not included Ryanair or FlyBe in those as I believe those to be different markets.
