Already posted in the Eastern Airways sub-forum, but Eastern to start a 2 x weekly HUY-NQY on Mondays and Fridays.
ADMIN NOTE - Thought this deserved a thread of it's own

Great news! First new domestic route since...? Hope it works out! Since EDI in 2002? Perhaps it’s partly a positioning flight that they’ve decided to sell seats on.

That was my first thought, but it appears to operate using HUY based Jetstream 41, as a simple out and back, utilising the aircraft that would once have operated the third Aberdeen rotation. Times are:
HUY 11.10 - NQY 12.35 NQY 13.00 - HUY 14.25
Aberdeen is scheduled as twice daily and appears the aircraft on Mondays and Fridays will operate HUY -> ABZ -> HUY -> NQY -> HUY -> ABZ -> HUY
Whilst I don't want to get ahead of ourselves, it does suggest this is a commercial venture rather than simply selling seats on otherwise empty legs, which does open up the possibility of serving other destinations on Tuesday to Thursdays, and whilst there is probably some local demand for faster links to the south west, its not somewhere I would put at the top of the list of potential routes within the UK that could be served in the same sort of time (Thinking Dublin, Belfast as obvious ones), but then again if Airport travel started selling packages using the flights - Weekend breaks to Newquay and the like, those 29 seats might not be too hard to fill.
How did the Flybe DSA->NQY route perform prior to their demise?

Flybe operated the E195 from DSA to NQY in 2016 and the E175 between 2017 and 2019 inclusive. Annual totals were 11,255, 7,101, 7,502 and 6,657. Monthly totals for the 2016 and 2017 summer seasons are shown below with load factors in brackets.
March 360, 0 April 1,076 (35%), 0 May 1,342 (44%), 361 (68%) June 1,666 (54%), 1,433 (63%) July 2,107 (69%), 1,748 (80%) August 2,543 (83%), 2,261 (92%) September 2,043 (67%), 1,209 (69%) October 127 (54%), 0
Eastern had been operating an LBA to NQY route during the Covid 19 era. Monthly passenger totals for 2021 are as follows:-
April 32 May 428 June 610 July 901 August 851 September 576 October 545 November 291 December 223 January 2022 26
Total 4,483
Eastern's decision to add Newquay to their Humberside routes is very welcome and follows the fairly recent addition of Jersey. The projected Annual total which has been mentioned is 2,500. This would imply a load factor of about 70% on a J41. Eastern presumably have a mailing list for their LBA-NQY passengers and hopefully many of them will find it attractive to fly from Humberside rather than Manchester or Teesside.

Great news! First new domestic route since...? Hope it works out! Since EDI in 2002? I think that was the last new domestic route to have started. There was a Flybe Belfast City service put on sale in either 2010 or 2011, but it never commenced Aberdeen is scheduled as twice daily and appears the aircraft on Mondays and Fridays will operate HUY -> ABZ -> HUY -> NQY -> HUY -> ABZ -> HUY Minor point, but just one Aberdeen on a Friday (in the afternoon)

Can’t imagine it to be a strong enough market at either end. Think the only real potential for unserved domestic from HUY would be London and possibly Belfast at a push. Perhaps Humberside Airport Travel have been tasked with selling packages - hopefully they’re cheap enough to compete with the tedious road journey.

Doesn't Newquay operate a link to the Scilly Islands? I know people who regularly go there. It may be something which would generate additional interest?

Isles of Scilly Skybus operates from St. Mary's to Newquay and it looks as though the Humberside flight would connect Southbound . The Northbound return would appear to require an overnight stay in Newquay.
On the subject of Eastern converting positioning flights into revenue-generating routes, could there be a possibility on HUY-SOU? There appear to be J41 HUY-SOU movements at present as a J41 is used on the Southampton to Manchester route. Requirements may, of course change when the national pattern of domestic flights settles down post Covid and when the re-created Flybe have announced their intentions.

The Newquay route is due to be operated from Friday 1st April until Monday 5th September inclusive. If a J41 is used throughout the season, the capacity will be 2,668. Eastern's LBA-NQY route had a much longer season. This may explain the prompt early April start at HUY if they are transferring LBA bookings on to the Humberside route.

Eastern are replacing the J41 with the 68 seat ATR72-600 on 3rd and 6th June. The ATR is also being used for an additional rotation on Thursday 2nd June. This adds 292 to the capacity. They are extending the season by two weeks to 19th September which adds another 232 seats bringing total capacity up to 3,192.
Demand on Newquay routes in August can be double that of some earlier months, so there could be some scope for further capacity enhancements later in the year.
