Maybe just a mistake, but Humberside has reappeared on the Ryanair routemap.....

I can't see it now. Seems to be a lot of capacity in the surronding area, probably the reason for Ryanair not using Humberside.

FR did use Humberside in summer 2006 for a daily Dublin service. Too frequent, too big an aircraft
I suspect the mistake is down to new software being used of FR's routemap. Hope it's something more but I doubt it (FR are meant to be announcing a new base today. 0.000000001% chance it's HUY)

Increasingly difficult times for Ryanair. Local news reported that Ryanair is having a 1 million seat drop in capacity this winter. Ryanair's tactics don't seem to suit smaller or less used airports.

Its consolidation all the way im afraid :-(
Im sure HUY will be least effected (I hope) as they dont really have too much to lose. Lets hope if the leisure air travel industry picks up in a couple of years again HUY will be on a level playing field. Cant see KLM or Eastern going anywhere fast...

Leeds has managed to secure a Ryanair base so the future for any type of expansion from HUY looks bleak.

I wouldnt say that any Leeds base would have an impact on the chance of HUY ever getting Ryanair back. Ryanair serve a number of airport close together and the few routes that Ryanair could ever operate successfully from HUY (Alicante, Gerona) would have to rely on the Humber region to fill up. The same flights from LBA could probably fill up on West Yorkshire passengers alone.
Ryanair's operations at DSA, who's core catchment area extends into HUY's much more than LBA's will have a far bigger impact on if they ever return to HUY. And that will ultimately come down to the financial deal on the table as well as what they do at DSA

A very long shot i know but FR does not operate into HUY... I ould assume talks with MAG are constant considering the bases at BOH and EMA and good customer relationship must have been built up.
Just a thought mind.
As far as im aware the only airports FR does not fly from are EXT, NWI, HUY, BLK, SOU, LHR and CWL.
LHR is a no-no for obvious reasons.
Taking CWL and BLK out due to their fall outs with the airline, add SOU's unadequate runway and you have NWI EXT and HUY being the ones, one of which may be in talks with FR.

I thought I had read somewhere the new base would have three aircraft, which would rule HUY out since there is no way we could absorb so much capacity. However many aircraft though I think it is a long shot
Interestingly despite their past fall out CWL is being mentioned. I would also throw Kent/Manston in a wildcard

I read it as upto 3 aircraft, presumably meaning they are flexible wherever they decide. I suppose if HUY was in for the running we would have heard murmurs by now though.

It is a very long shot, but especially with FR's new range of routes to the Canaries, HUY could work as a single aircraft base, year round.
Alicante, Barcelona GRO, Dublin, Faro, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Malaga, Palma and Tenerife come to mind.
I would expect DSA to get anything over HUY however.

I should think HUY management will have been in talks as the loss of TCX will have a big impact on revenue this winter. TCX were allegedly offered free landings and handlings, FR could like that. The reason im suggesting HUY, at a long shot, is because one of the airports being considered is currently not served by Ryanair. It is proven that the canaries are popular year round though i wouldnt be too sure on Farpo Ibiza and Palma....
Woudnt DSA be too close to EMA for any serious expansion?
My moneys ion LBA or MAN to be honest, not too sure on the chances of MME getting something out of it?

How about Scandanavian and Polish destinations? There are links to be exploited in the region and Yorkshire and the Humber are poorly served to the likes of Sweden and Norway. Still i agree a very long shot particularly after the failure to attract enough for the DUB route in better times.
I wonder why DSA and MME are not on sale for the winter yet? Perhaps they are considering both of those and the schedules would be subject to change if based machines were put in?

MME had no Spanish flights last winter, only DUB. So now DUB is gone it would be expected that MME has no Ryanair flights this winter
