Looking at the KLM website and FR24 from 3/4th Sept all Amsterdam services from HUY will be operated by F70s again until the timetable changes at the end of Oct. If all of the F70s are retired in October I wonder if they will have enough aircraft? From what I can see they have been using 4 CityJet RJs on various routes this summer, but there is only one further E175 due in Nov with the rest due to be delivered in 2018.

The December 2017 timetable shows that after Friday 22nd, there will be no afternoon KL1497/1498 rotation until Wednesday 27th. The only arrival on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th is the mid morning KL1489. On Christmas Day, KL1489 and KL1499 are due to arrive. The only arrival on Sunday 31st is KL1489 : (consequently there is no KL1486 departure on 1st January).
If there are no cancellations, there will be 163 flights.
Last year, 166 flights were planned for December, but there were two post-Christmas cancellations which looked like seasonal timetable adjustments. The resulting total was 164.
Last year, a Fokker 70 was used. Assuming two rows of business class seats, capacity would have been 12,464. If an E175 is used this year, the capacity will be 14,344, an increase of 15%.

KLM seem to be pricing their increased HUY capacity competitively. For example HUY/AMS return fares are available in April and May for £99.

The MME thread on pprune has a list of calculated load factors of U.K. routes where KLM have a monopoly.
The Humberside load factor for calendar year 2017 is shown as 65% and this does not look accurate. Total passengers were 118,129. It looks as though the author used 2,065 flights at 88 seats, giving a total capacity of 181,737.
The Fokker 70 was, of course, in use for much of the year, usually providing a capacity of 76 seats. Flights were also lost to cancellations and diversions and a few flights were gained from diversions (usually E190 aircraft).
The net total of Amsterdam flights for 2017 was 2,021. It is estimated that 552 were operated by an Embraer and 1,469 by a Fokker. Using 88 and 76 seats respectively, capacity comes out at 160,220. The resulting load factor is 73.7%.
As has also been pointed out, it is the overall yield which governs profitability, not the load factor taken in isolation.

The KLM online timetable is showing that the mid-morning Sunday rotation, KL1485/KL1486, has been fully restored from today, 8th July. This service is now due to return for the remainder of the summer timetable and to continue with revised timings in the winter.

There is a posting on pprune relating to a proposed temporary reduction of KLM services at Cardiff. Between 3rd September and 26th October, CWL will only have two rotations on weekdays and one on Sundays. There is speculation that the cause is runway works at Schiphol.
The reduction shows up on the KLM timetable. Other KLM U.K. destinations with similar traffic volumes to CWL do not seem to have been affected.

The winter timetable currently shows no seasonal reductions to flights on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. If this full programme goes ahead, there will be 176 flights in December compared with 163 planned for December 2017 (although, due to bad weather, only 151 took place). This represents an increase in planned seat capacity of 1,144 for the month of December.

The timetable has not yet been updated to give the information which is shown on the front of the KLM website in the flight offers fares section. This shows reductions in flights over the holiday which would result in 154 HUY flights during December. There are reductions of one rotation on Sunday 23rd, Thursday 27th, Friday 28th, Sunday 30th and Monday 31st. There are reductions of two rotations on Monday 24th, Tuesday 25th, Wednesday 26th and Tuesday 1st January. As a result there will be departures to Amsterdam on Christmas Day and Boxing Day at 10.40. They may attract a few passengers from the West and North Ridings, as there are no KLM flights from LBA on Christmas Day.

Newmarket Holidays have been selling 7 night trips to Moscow/St Petersburg and Bergen this year, using the KLM service from HUY. They have increased their offer to four destinations in 2019 by adding Porto and Helsinki/Riga. The effect on passenger numbers is best estimated by looking at Porto, as Newmarket are selling it from only 9 airports, three of which have short seasons. HUY has a full offer of 20 weeks on Sundays. If it took one seventh of the capacity, there would be seven passengers on each flight, generating 280 in the season. Capacity is assumed to be one 50 seater coach carrying the Tour Manager / Guide. The other tours are served by 13 or 14 airports, but could be expected to fill double the number of coaches. It looks as though this programme has the scope to generate about a thousand KLM passengers through HUY in 2019.

Is this due to slot constraints at Schiphol or a reduction in demand from HUY? It has been reported that KLM are stopping their Southampton service at the end of March, but offering additional flights from Inverness during the summer.

It does not seem to be a result of low demand at HUY because there has been a surge in passenger numbers on the route since August when the Sunday morning service was fully restored. We do not know, of course, whether these additional passengers resulted in a lower yield per passenger. Cardiff is also due to have non-operating Sunday flights this year. There have been no recent comments on the Cardiff forum, but a regular contributor said on there in July that he understood that the problem was caused by runway works.
