I would have thought that whatever they do to increase the number of stands would involve a bussing operation because of the distances involved. One way to avoid that would be to reconfigure the whole setup to incorporate piers stretching out into the centre of the airfield, creating a series of cul-de-sacs. This is what happens elsewhere. But I really have no idea if this would work at SEN because of the limited amount of space and the shape of the airfield, and I am not minded to try working it out ! I suspect it would prove to be an inefficient use of space and no doubt considerably more costly to build..
One of the video presentations accompanying the recent Results has Warwick Brady saying that planning permission already exists for the proposed new Arrivals terminal. Surely this is wrong. The only planning consent is in respect of extensions to the existing building. As far as I am aware there has not even been an application for a completely new building. Or have I missed something ?

I suspect that Warwick Brady was referring to the planning consent already granted to extend Northwards the existing terminal. This will increase considerably the Arrivals area and I think he just called this a 'terminal', making it sound like a completely new building. The extension to the existing building will mean that the current Immigration hall will become part of the Departures area and a new, larger Immigration Hall will be built in the current Baggage Reclaim area, with a new, larger Baggage Reclaim hall being built. I think he* also said there would be an increase in the available retail potential of the Departure area and additional passenger space, which indeed will be a result of that work.
* EDIT: I've just checked the interview videos and it was actually Glyn Jones who mentioned the additional Departures area benefits associated with the additional Arrivals area capacity for which the planning permission already exists.

At last, the Departures and arrivals page is again being updated! 'War and Peace' it isn't though.
