As predicted in January all Aer Arann scheduled services will be re-branded as Aer Lingus Regional with effect from the start of the summer schedule on 25th March 2012. From tomorrow current RE flights will be bookable only on the Aer Lingus website. This move should see the WAT-SEN enjoying some growth this summer as the Aer Lingus brand is likely to have a wider appeal.

I suppose it's an illustration of just how far SEN has progressed in the past few months that the start of the 3 x daily SEN-DUB hasn't received a mention here.
I'm told that the inaugural SEN-DUB ATR-72 had around 45 pax while the return flight was virtually full. The evening DUB-SEN apparently had around 40 pax, so things eem to have got off to a good start. The route will normally be served by an ATR-42 with the 72 being used when it's anticipated that demand will be heavy.

That sounds very encouraging.
A rumour on pprune is that Aer Lingus Regional are considering discontinuing Waterford-Luton !

There has been a rumour doing the rounds for a couple of weeks that RE will be re-equiping with ATR-72-600s. Today there is a report on PPRuNe that RE employees have been told that Stobart Group will finance the acquisition of eight new aircraft of that type.
I believe that the despatch reliability of the rather aged ATR-42s currently being used on the SEN routes has been the cause of some disquiet.

There is now talk about RE securing seven ATR 72-600s that are sitting at Toulouse due to their Caribbean purchaser cancelling the deal. Would some of these be used to launch new European services from SEN, I wonder?

ATR have confirmed that Aer Arann will take delivery of eight 72-600s commencing next year. The contractual details have still to be finalised and it will be interesting to see exactly how these are being financed. Presumably the bulk of this order will replace existing leased 72s and the old 42s and whether it has any significance for SEN remains to be seen.

Well, let's hope so. There are many routes to Europe from SEN which an ATR 72 would be ideal for......

I see that this evening's SEN-DUB-SEN is shown as 'non-operational' on the SEN departure board. I had noticed the odd flight missing for Tuesday and Thursday on the Aer Lingus booking engine. Anyone know the reason?

It's just been announced that RE will close all their Waterford routes wef 6th January 2013 - these being SEN, LTN & MAN.
They say they are commercially unsustainable and that they will now concentrate on only the most profitable Aer Lingus Reional routes.
It willbe interesting to see if anyone picks up WAT-LON, although I doubt the destination will be SEN.
On a brighter note, expect an announcement from elsewhere in 10 days time which should include some good news regarding SEN.
