I see Aer Lingus Regional/Aer Arann will start a new 6xWeek Dublin service in March www.rte.ie/news/2010/1214/aerarann-business.htmlGood news for ABZ, but personally I have my doubts. It's up against FR for 'local' traffic while similar once daily services to DSA and MME didn't work out

Surely though H, there will be more demand for US connections from ABZ due to the oil and gas industry.

Quite probably, but I would have thought oil and gas industry workers would be especially fond of their frequent flyer points. Also with a once daily service the connections will be limited to JFK, and possibly BOS
Aer Lingus will be up against BA, bmi/Star, AF and KLM in ABZ. All of whom can offer a far wider network to major oil/gas industry centres such as Houston, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa
Then when failure in MME and DSA is considered, with no direct FR competition, sizeable catchment areas and far less onward competiting connection options, I'm really not hopeful that EI can make ABZ-DUB work. Only two onward connecting destinations and no advantage over FR such a day return option
If FR were ever to pull out (and there is no indication they would do) then EI could probably make it work off local traffic, but FR will probably still handle most of that for as long as they remain on the route

ATR72 v B738. I have my doubts too, & not just because it's Prop v Jet. However, never say never I suppose!

Going daily for Summer 2012 (i.e. 1 extra weekly flight). www.aerarann.com/about_us/news.htmDon't think my earlier predictions are very accurate now though they were made before Ryanair pulled their competing service
