With North Easterners looking for value-for-money holidays this summer, it looks as if Turkey is all set to be a top destination, with a big boost in flights from Durham Tees Valley Airport.
Turkish holiday specialists Holidays 4U will launch their programme in May with a Wednesday flight to Dalaman which will operate weekly through to the end of October—and, because of the high demand, they will have an additional flight, operating on the same day, Wednesday, in May and then a Thursday flight from July to October.
Says Airport Marketing and Communications Manager Emma Ormerod “Certainly Turkey seems to be bucking the trend as far as the North East is concerned. It’s an indication of just how popular it’s becoming that Holidays 4U have increased their number of seats on flights from Durham Tees Valley from 5,500 they had available last summer to 8,800 this year.
“Certainly there are some very good value deals available—for instance prices start from £229 per week per person for a selection of self-catering accommodation in a range of different resorts, including lively Marmaris, the very modern Icmeler and the village of Ovacik.
Adds Karen Vyse, Managing Director of Holidays 4U “As an independent company which has been specialising in the Turkish market for the past 15 years, we know that it really can offer a superb choice of destinations and accommodation to meet all budgets—and one of the key factors which currently make it so appealing and such good value is that it is outside the euro zone.
“We’ve been delighted with the response from people in the North East and, of course, one of the most important things when they make their holiday choice is being able to fly from their local airport.
"In the current economic climate passengers want to know that they will get great value for money and that their holiday is safe. All bookings with Holidays 4U provide that value for money and are protected."
