As well as the established operators, ABZ has been playing host to some more "exotic" visitors that appear to be flying to offshore installations.
A Dauphin (AS365N2) OO-NHC has been active this year, also: Heli-Holland EC155 PH-EQU Italian AW139 (can't recall reg'n/operator)
The last two have been here within the last fortnight, although I don't think any are currently here.
Suggests either an overall heli shortage for offshore ops (which has been suggested, hence the recent new orders) or others see the opportunity to "cash in" on the current boom in the oil industry & are bidding for & winning contracts.

Well I was wrong. AW139 operated today t/f something called the "Normand Cutter" or similar.
Reg'n is I-GOLK.

I suppose this counts as an interesting heli.
An A109, N1US passed through ABZ last night, as part of a planned stop on an attempt to break a world speed record for flying around the world.
Currently it is just around London - breaking a heli speed record for flying between NYC & London!
Bonkers, but good luck to them!!!
