Anyone heard of Europort Express? Seem to have Southend down as a potential route from Rotterdam? exit3.co.uk/europort.htmlJust looks like a domain name at present.

It looks like they are aiming at business travellers in the port industry. There could be lot's of potential traffic as the London gateway port develops so Southend would definetly make sense for them.

I note that reply is from someone claiming to be from Europort Express. If that is actually correct, it is good to see airlines consulting discussions boards such as this excellent one. I'd like to ask what type of aircraft they are considering operating - ATR, Dash 8, or 737-300 (bmibaby are about to give their lease aircraft back)....? or something else......

With all due respect to HUY's potential I'm very surprised that RTM-HUY would be one of the priority destinations for the airline: and at two or possibly three rotations daily?
I'm tempted to say that their posting was more a case of them saying what they thought this forum wanted to hear. It doesn't look quite right to me but hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

I guess someone has looked at a map of major British ports and selected Tilbury, Teesport, Aberdeen and the Humber ports and then chosen nearby airports. The name Europort Express suggests that they are trying to attract shipping company business, which can still be quite lucrative. Not too sure about the port of Geneva though......

Expressflight, the east coast airports are well located for quick trips over the North Sea, hence KLM operating to HUY, NWI and MME . Like you I am not convinced, but I think the important thing is to wait and see who is backing this. I know its unlikely but if there are shipping companies behind it (as has happened before) then there might be more substance to it. There are significant links between Rotterdam and the Humber Ports, there is undeniably a market alongside the current route to AMS.
