Hints of a winter sun destination I reckon.

I believe this thread and the hinted route relates to a schedule service rather than a winter sun charter

Yes, interesting. Looking closely at the Twitter conversation the overall theme seems to be bringing passengers into the Humber Region rather than taking locals on holiday and back. Scheduled rather than charter does sit better in this scenario.
Could this be flights aimed at meeting industry/business needs (e.g. port related/renewables) or the migrant labour market?? Quota restrictions on Romanian and Bulgarian migrant numbers are due to expire and loco's will be looking at the implications of this even though the experts seem to agree that additional migration will be minimal. Although DSA has an agreement with Wizz there are other players in this market and HUY is well situated to service agricultural Lincolnshire which relies on migrant labour.
Only a possibility and I could be very wide of the mark!! Twitter writer only talked of a possibility!!

Possibly more helicopters? ???No mention of holiday pax or fixed wing as far as I can see. Would link up with the current developments. Could also mean "football" flights for Hull.

I find it hard to believe that they would post such a comment on Twitter if they were refering to more helicopter flights. However, whatever it is they are working on, it may never see the light of day or end up at DSA instead, so it will be a case of wait and see.

'IF' it is referring to a new scheduled service, the only places I could think of, would be to Dublin, or perhaps London City to try and capitalise on the loss of the rail link in North Lincolnshire to try and poach some passengers, that might otherwise have used the train? Paris is the other option, which operated in the late 90s for a short time, but would it attract enough users without impacting on AMS?
A new winter sun route is more likely, but if so, its most likely going to be JetXtra, as the tour operators all have had the brochures out for ages now, and any new airline I would expect to start with a summer route initially, then extend into the winter if it was profitable enough. Would the Volotea plane reach TFS?
All of the above is pure speculation of course!

Bulgarians and Romanians gain full access to the U.K. labour market on 1st January 2014. An airline starting a new route from either of those countries would be faced with the problem of lop-sided demand. It would be some weeks or months before the new employees were ready for a trip home. This could be alleviated by attracting U.K. residents to the skiing resorts. Bucharest, Plovdiv and Sofia are all well placed for this. In earlier years there have already been Balkan Holidays charter flights from Humberside to Plovdiv. By the time the skiing season was over there would be a more-balanced two-way flow of foreign passengers.

Mrmoose - no, HUY-TFS would be beyond the range of a Volotea 717 according to information on the Internet. Volotea do fly to TFS from mainland Europe but those extra few miles to north UK seem to place it out of range if the info on the Internet is correct.
