Sorry bit slow in posting this one. But it is an interesting development.
Eurocopter are investing some £4m in investing in sim training facilities (EC225 helicopter) in the Kirkhill Ind Est, next to the airport.
Not a lot of jobs, ~20, but it is on the face of it good news.
The timing though is interesting, at a time where the worldwide credit crunch & Britain's current woes leading to a drop in N.Sea budgets - there are stories up here of contracts being deferred & jobs to be lost in the year ahead.
Also, CHC (AS3B) & Bristow (EC25 & S92 possibly) are currently investing in Sim facilities.
Further, a post on another forum (Plane Mad) suggested Sikorsky are possibly looking at opening a maintenance facility of some sort at ABZ - remains to be seen though if that comes to pass. I think that one, if true, would be a great piece of news.

Any investment in these times is good news. And it further diversifies ABZ. Passenger, mail, helicopters, engineering, training. Not being reliant on one sector always helps. Even when the recession is hitting almost every industry, and of course everything at ABZ is aviation linked, if one business failed, or shut down ABZ operations, the more diversified the airport is, the less impact there will be
