There is speculation on pprune this morning that Loganair are to discontinue their ABZ/NCL, ABZ/MME and GLA/SOU services on 10th May. Eastern are being suggested as the only viable candidate for the two North East England routes. It is suggested that they might use a larger aircraft on the HUY/ABZ route and introduce an intermediate stop at Teesside. There is less discussion on the Southampton route because it is now served by an infrequent Easyjet offer.

Logan have dropped both MME and NCL - I would guess, purely based on catchment area and population that Newcastle would probably be front of the queue to be replaced over Teeside - although that said Newcastle to Aberdeen is easier by rail than Middlesborough to Aberdeen. I imagine you could also probably sell a handful of HUY-NCL tickets to improve viability - certainly more likely to sell than HUY-MME, although again, Middlesborough isn't the easiest journey from Hull, either by road or rail.
I don't think an aircraft upgrade is necessary - The next size up is the ATR, but 70 seats is overkill - plus as the aircraft operates to NQY in the summer on Mondays and Fridays, it could risk undermining any profitability on that section.
Eastern are probably the only viable operator to step in and save the MME-ABZ link though

It is reported on pprune that Eastern are taking over the MME/ABZ route from 13th May with 6 rotations per week. This is due to rise to 10 per week from September. I have not so far been able to find any confirmation of this on the Eastern website or the Teesside website and social media.

Travel Weekly now confirm that Eastern are taking over the route. The exact date is initially on 20th May with an increase in the number of rotations from 9th September.
