Speaking in today's Aviation Debate in the House of Commons, Martin Vickers stated that he would devote his speech to the cause of increasing the usage of Humberside Airport. Having been critical of the railway planners for not constructing an airport railway station at HUY, he proposed a regional reduction in Air Passenger Duty. He quoted the Commercial Director of Humberside Airport, who has produced a paper suggesting that a reduced level of APD at small regional airports would encourage much greater use of valuable infrastructure around the country and take pressure off congested facilities such as Heathrow.
