In Hull Daily Mail last night there was a reasonably sized advert for flights to Malaga with FlyBe. It said 'also flying to Jersey and Belfast City'... Not the best of adverts but can see where the emphasis is on.
Still baffled about the lack of press release now, very strange.

Two weeks now and still no official announcement on the website or in the local papers... I know they have been advertising like i said above but they seem to be more concerned about Malaga doing well.
They realy arent giving this its best start possible, to be honest hearing Tony Lavan talk on Radio Humberside when AGP was announced he didnt sound too enthusiastic either. Perhaps they are working on something else, or they just dont believe Belfast will work themselves.

Its extremely poor and even if they dont think BHD will work, at least give it a go
Ultimately how long does it take to write a press release - not long. How much does it cost to issue it - nothing

It is a great shame and could be a real missed opportunity, i tend to think now that the local papers dont see any reason to report it. Afterall, they didnt report the new Malaga flight except in the humberbusiness...
Still doesnt explain why they cant issue a press announcement on their own website and make it more visible on the home page.

I emailed the airport, and this was their response. Maybe not always black and white as we see it.
"Thank you for your email regarding the new Belfast route from Humberside Airport.
We have worked in conjunction with flybe to communicate to regional, trade and industry, online and Belfast media.
The story has been widely covered over a period of four weeks with coverage appearing in all main print titles and also across broadcast stations such as BBC radio Humberside, BBC radio Lincolnshire and Lincs FM. Press releases that are issued by Humberside Airport or Group appear on our website, however we do not at present show any joint press release information. This will be addressed shortly.
Thank you again for your comments, which have been forwarded on to our Press Office.
Yours sincerely
JANE PEACOCK Humberside AirportDisclaimer"
Regards
Mike

Checking fares on the Opodo website seems to indicate that there is a base fare of £73 return from both Humberside and Doncaster to Belfast. The return fare then appears to rise by £4 for every 4 seats sold. Most fares at both airports are generally stuck at £73, but both show £103 for a one-week trip departing on 30th May. For a one-week trip departing on Friday 28th May, the HUY price has risen to £120 return compared with £103 from DSA. Perhaps this indicates that they have sold about 44 seats on these HUY flights so far, compared with about 27 from DSA.

I'm guessing that a service like BHD will have quite a few late bookers (or at least I hope so)

For what it's worth, fares for a one-way flights from HUY on the BE website for the first three days of operation
Thu 27th - £0 Fri 28th - £22.69 Sun 30th - £5.69
One way fares from BHD
Thu 27th - £0 Fri 28th - £11.79 Sun 29th - £11.79

No longer bookable - BHD removed as an option from HUY in the online booking engine. While I had doubts over its long term viability, I did at least expect it to see out the summer

thisisscunthorpe is reporting today the demise of the Belfast City flights, due to poor passenger take up.

That's sad news. I don't know for sure if it's still continuing but Yorkshire Forward was subsidising the service out of DSA.

It had been reported on an earlier thread that Belfast City was the least successful of Flybe's routes from Doncaster. The proposed introduction of further capacity a few miles down the road must have had a negative effect on bookings from DSA. Presumably anyone who has bought a ticket to Belfast from HUY will find that they are now due to fly from Finningley.
