With easyJet about to recommence some services from DSA it might be of interest to note just how intent they are on efficiency savings. Today's Times newspaper carries a report of them leaving the maintenance base at Stansted airport. SR Technics who are responsible for easyJet's fleet is to close operations throwing 345 aviation engineers out of work.
As part of easyJets commitment to make cuts of £190 million a year by 2012 it has negotiated much tougher terms in an 11 year £1 billion deal which will see all maintenance carried out at a new base in Malta. This is expected to save £17 million a year!
