A small item in tonight's Sheffield Star is stating that DSA is going for a "phenomenal growth of 40%." It then goes on to say they have "this big city conurbation that's been under-served".
We shall have to await publication of next Wednesdays business supplement to find out more...intriguing!

I'm guessing that it is mostly refering to Easyjet, and possible future expansion by them. And to a lesser extent the new DUB service. Sounds a lot like good PR
(Off topic, but HUY are you taking note .... )

There is nothing new in today's Star Monthly Business supplement excepting an admission that DSA needs to reposition themselves with the business market. They became a package airport simply because Thomson came there first. The Airport's Sales Director in a "revelation" claims that if people stopped thinking of SYs constituents as separate entities then the region is a conurbation the size of Barcelona.

The same could be said for several other city regions, i dont understand its relevence to the growth of the airport?

I think the aim is to catch more of the Sheffield market

I think the Airport failed, adequately, to make up for the business potential of the City's airport. There has been little attempt to make it the Airport of choice for Sheffielders who already find that the others ...which serve the City... offer more services. ( Its a strange co-incidence but York Aviation, in their "damning" assessment of SZDs viability, made exactly that point...that the City was adequately served by the existing Airports.)
The key to many business flights is being able to make an early morning flight ,to wherever, have your meeting, enjoy a spot of refreshment and be back home the same night without having to make too tiresome a road journey back. I don't think that easyJets planned service to AMS ex DSA will permit this...will it?
