Maybe T/C will put on a new destination in it's place or destinations.

It was operated by an ECA aircraft as far as im aware, so i doubt it.
To be honest, even though the flights to and from HUY to HER were full when i was on them, it was dead in Crete, so im not surprised with them covering their backs...

It has been so dead in Crete that I have gone there every year since flights started from HUY about 10 years ago. It depends what sort of holiday you want. It is ideal for families and people wanting peace and quiet away from the concrete jungles. To go to a Mediterranean destination and be able to sleep undisturbed at night is a plus for me. A drive up into the mountains to watch all the birds of prey is always a highlight, plus the abundance of historic sites - Minoan - Roman and earlier. The only blot is Malia.
Hope Olympic can put on a larger aircraft.

When i say it was dead i am refering to the fact that a lot of businesses there are struggling and many have gone under due to the drop in numbers visiting. Im sure when things pick up again that HUY will get the second flight back though.

Previous rumours said SSH was possible from HUY, Olympic do holidays to several Egyptian resorts.., and of course most Greek Islands.

Pug, you are correct in saying that visitor numbers declining has been a concern for several years in Crete. Friends who own a restaurant there have been worried for 3-4 years now. However this year when we saw them their impression where they are in Istro was that business was improving again.

Not sure if this has been reported, and apologies if it has, but changes are afoot for summer 2011 with Thomas Cook.
Antalya will operate on Mondays, departure time of 21:50.
Dalaman will operate on Tuesdays, departure time of 18:55.
Regards
Mike

Looks as though TCX are committing more to DSA for next year, i wonder if this could affect the current offering from HUY?

Could the new Thomas Cook/Co-Op tie in have any benefits for HUY, i.e more routes?

I don't think this has been mentioned yet but for the last month, TCX have been offering Saturday and Thursday departures from Humberside for most of Summer 2011. The thursday dep looks like the thomson/aea flight - they are taking seat allocations or taking over the slot. The flight times are the same as Thomson. The confusing thing is they are not offering 10 or twelve night breaks, only 7 or 14 days. I'm sure it will change but an interesting development................... Just noted that the Saturday flight stops for 4 weeks in July whilst the Thursday flight still bookable......

TCX will operate Enfidha 1st-15th May and 16th-30th Oct (Nouvelair 22nd May-9th Oct) according to airport timetable, which has been updated for Summer 2011 but omits Olympic/Balkan/Newmarket. I have checked their websites and they still have HUY flights on sale

With Eurocypria going i suspect we could lose some of the Olympic offering . Perhaps thats why they've removed it from the timetable?

They may be able to get Cyprus Airways to do the Larnaca one, perhaps Thomas Cook and Airtours will get them to do theirs too, but who would be able to do Heraklion? Thomas Cook have dropped next years friday flight to consolidate the current tuesday Olympic one, yet wth Eurocypria regretably going under, i cant think of any other airline based at HER that could take over? Certainly this is another argument for TCX to part base an aircraft at HUY over the summer, but i think thats a bit too optimistic at this moment in time.
