Makes you think that there needs to be a certain level of rebalancing between what the customers want and what the airlines do. I think the airport are probably pushing that, but small airports are bound to struggle when the economy is in such a dire situation. The Humber region is struggling with rising unemployment due to the high percentage of public sector workers compared to other regions. People just dont have the money to spend, and with HUY only being able to attract passengers from a relatively small geographical area then it makes it difficult to even tread water. In order to have the number of routes that HUY used to offer, I fully believe that a based airline is the only real way they will claw them back. I am certainly not holding my breath on that one. FR dont seem to be doing as well as was hoped with a 76% load factor in May. Obviously that offers no evidence of yield however, but I was under the impression FR needed high LF for routes to make money? TCX seem more interested in DSA, and I believe another operator are looking at offering a couple of weekly flights to LCA from there next year, I can only see Olympic following them there... On the positive side, KLM seem to be recovering well, along with T3. There can only be more growth for them when the turbine manufacture industry gets off the ground. Weston Aviation also seem to be doing well after having opened early due to demand. Hopefully the new head of business development will help to bring some new developments to HUY for 2012..

Saw the 767 departing to DLM last night. Lets hope any TCX restructure doesn't involve significant capacity cuts at HUY, though I wont hold my breath on that one.

According to LBAspotter on another forum, the BH air flights which were due to be transferred to a sole HUY operation have been cancelled, and the flights will continue to be shared with LBA instead.
Supposidly this is due to poor bookings, not a good sign.

Bourgas always has had poor loads - likewise when Balkan Holidays had ski charters. I can only assume Balkan Holidays and BH Air have very low costs
Certainly not good news but the impact on passenger numbers will be minimal

Next years going to be a quiet one as things stand... Makes me wonder if the airport will still be handling passengers by next year.

Springy, Not sure where you got the info about the Dalaman flight. Its a pretty solid performer and is still bookable until end of Oct, including Half Term. I believe the 767 will be downgrading to a 757 in September, probably around the 13th.
