There are rumblings going around that Monarch will be basing two aircraft at Robin Hood for Summer 2012. Heard from the Ilkeston in Rotherham. I just wondered if anybody else had heard anything similar?

Interesting rumour, I do wonder how a travel agents would be privy to such information though?
I suspect if there is any truth in this it would be to provide capacity for tour operators and not purely a scheduled service?

Most if not all Monarch scheduled flights are also sold as part of packages by Cosmos/Monarch Holidays. Some also have third party tour operators taking seats on them
If Monarch ever did open a DSA base I'm sure most if not all flights would be scheduled. Who would want a 2 aircraft charter operation out of DSA other than Thomson, who have TOM to do that for them

You may not agree with me Humberside, but the news of EMA and LBA securing growth from Monarch must be another kick in the teeth for DSA (and probably HUY). People were talking last year of DSA trying to attract Monarch, and Monarch suggesting they 'have been looking at expanding into the Yorkshire area for some time' suggests that they will certainly have been speaking to DSA.
Something tells me that the announcement of EMA and LBA so close together is not just a coincidence, and perhaps behind closed doors some people at DSA (and perhaps LPL if rumours there were true) may be highly disappointed.
