Last week new low cost up Volotea announced it's first routes from it's initial Venice base, including Alicante and Malaga www.centreforaviation.com/analysis/european-lcc-start-up-volotea-looks-to-stimulate-demand-in-regional-markets-starting-with-venice-68880The airline will use 125 seat B717's and the CEO says the airline’s goal “is to forge new and efficient air connections between Europe's small and mid-sized cities currently not well served by direct flights”. The main target markets are France, Italy and Spain, though Volotea's launch routes do also include Hungary, Poland, Portugal and Greece I hope MAG have, or will make contact with Volotea to ensure they are aware of HUY and it's potential. Clearly Volotea need to establish themselves, and I don't think HUY-Venice would be a viable route short or medium term. But as Volotea expand into other bases there could be potential for HUY service. HUY is definetly a small market with few direct flights. With only 125 seats, the B717 may mean some routes could become viable, that may not be with a B737/A319/A320. And/or they could simply be an option to get Alicante or Malaga service And for our SEN members and visitors, there could be potential in linking small cities to SEN (for London). There are some out there not served by Ryanair from Stansted! An airline it might be worth keeping an eye on

Volotea have added an Ibiza base and also seem to be doing a few flights out of Palma, Menorca and Malaga. Still worth keeping an eye on for HUY but their insane expansion rate is rather worrying IMO. Have a look on their website and see just how many routes they launched considering they are only a start up carrier!

Wow! 53 destinations with only 3 B-717 aircraft!!! ALC,CFU,ABZ,KOS,PMI,AGP,RHO.That'll do for us. 875 pax catered for per week and not much queueing in the terminal. Who's going to mention it to the Volotea board/owners? Dreams at the moment I suggest,BIG dreams.
