IAG the parent company of British Airways have this morning announced that they plan to reopen the former British Midland route between London Heathrow & Leeds/Bradford. No exact date for the route restarting has been given but it is thought to be from the end of October (Start of the winter 2012/2013 schedule) with flights to be operated 3 times daily using Airbus A319's www.iairgroup.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=240949&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1695000&highlight=

I have to say I'm shocked - I would have expected BA to add frequency to existing destinations pending an increase in their long haul fleet. But well done to LBA - it's a big coup, especially as LBA (plus Rotterdam and Zagreb) have beaten off competition for this service. Now just need to hope BA are in it for the long term, even once they have increased their long haul fleet
And on a wider note - LBA management are doing very very well at the moment. Two new airlines and an increased Thomson operation

An Official announcement regarding the new British Airways, Leeds-Bradford to London-Heathrow service is expected to be made at a press conference been held at LBA at 09:45 next Wednesday, June 27th.
