This is legitimate - flights go on sale from the 15th January 2013 with flights to Amsterdam, Berlin-Tegel and Munich all starting on the 25th March 2013 using a Fokker 50. They also plan to add London-Southend, Paris CDG and Copenhagen in 2014 also using F50s.

Just for the record, Maastricht Airlines filed for bankruptcy on 29 May 2013 without ever having operated any services. It's very tough out there for new entrants just now.

What a shame. Does that mean that if the Fokker 50 had been delivered on time they would have started operations?

Possibly I suppose, but there must have been some reason why they did not do a temporary deal with Denim Air on an ACMI basis to enable them to commence operations as planned. That would have been more expensive of course, but the natural thing to do in those circumstances rather than cancel the launch completely. There's nothing quite like doing that to destroy your credibility.

According to a recent news article about the confirmed bankruptcy at the court hearing (6th June), apparently one of the investors suddenly pulled out which was another reason for their demise. Over 4,000 tickets from Maasticht Airport had already been sold which would seem promising but they have been refunded. The management there still believe that if an investor can be found then a re-launch could happen despite debts of 650,000 euros. It seems that they have the demand, and have put a lot of effort into the project it would seem to go to waste. I guess we'll wait and see what happens...
