Significant increase in ATOL numbers for JetXtra's parent company (Sporting Events Global) has been posted today on CAA website. Overall increase from 2500 this year to 4700 next year. The table also shows some activity before the summer season which looks to be more than the Xmas Tenerife flights.

With Thomson pulling out of Durham Tees Valley for Summer 2014, could we see the return of Thomson to Humberside using the planned aeroplane from LBA on W Patterns? More Palma and a service to Ibiza would be nice!
Wishful thinking however I think, but we can hope!.

This is encouraging news - It indicates that the Thomas Cook flight programme is still being tweaked - and gives me hope that Palma will make a return for Summer 14. Extra 9 seats on the flights again this year too - not that it will make a noticeable difference to the figures!

Airport Twitter feed has announced that Jetxtra flights next year will be with British Airways. Very interesting!

Well if that's the case that Jetxtra are using a British Airways aircraft next summer on the Alicante and Palma flights surely it will be using a London City based Cityfler, Embrear 170 or 190. Just cant see a mainline Airbus A319 or A320 been deployed from Heathrow as they are just to busy..

Very interesting move - BA will have more spare aircraft at weekends when there are fewer business travellers. Obvious choice would be the Cityflyer E170/90's, or there are always A318/9/20 that might be spare. Looking at the schedule published, we look to have an aircraft positioning in each Saturday morning, from May-Sep, with an extra aircraft required for the July-Sep Palma departures. An E190 is probably about right size wise - Most flights this year have a operated at about 70-80% loads, or around 100 per flight.
Wonder if BA will be operating their full service, or a reduced level to match the Lo-co style on offer this year?

Reading the announcement again it only talks about the Palma flights. Also, checking the Jetxtra booking engine nothing is available before 26th July - a week later than previously announced.

If it turned out that all the charters were British Airways E170/E190, there would be a considerable number of positioning flights. Would these all be to and from London City? If so, could they create another leisure route by selling seats on them?

Selling seats on positioning trips would make sense, purely on the off chance somebody would buy one - But with what we assume would be an early morning LCY-HUY, and late pm HUY=LCY, just once per week - I doubt it would work except for somebody wanting to make a one-off either week return, or one-way trip.
I suspect the current JetXtra flight times will be adjusted to reflect this news, once it is confirmed by JetXtra themselves. The Palma flights currently operate at 11:15am on Saturdays, returning at 17:50. The Alicante flights operate at the same time May-Jul and in September, so would assume these are planned to use the same aircraft, with the Alicante flights moving to 8am during the school holidays, using a seperate chartered aircraft.
Not sure about cost wise, but it would make more sense for an AC to position in on Friday Night - Stop over, then Operate HUY-ALC-HUY-PLM-HUY, before returning to its normal base either late Saturday or Sunday morning. Even with a Crew hotel stop, I suspect this would work out cheaper than 4 positioning flights, and utilising 2 aircraft?
Of course the other way, would be to use BA for the Summer holiday Majorca flights, and use another operator for Alicante (perhaps somebody like Volotea, operating a W into HUY?). Either way, Im sure all will be confirmed in the near future. If TCX really are withdrawing their Palma flight - which there seems to be no news on for some time, I could see benefit for jetXtra in running Palma for the full season again.

Don't forget LCY is closed from 1230 Sat to 1230 Sun. At least some of the BA Cityflyer fleet is EDI and GLA based and any positioning flights would probably be to/from Scotland as a result

JetXtra have updated their website with details of the BA flights to Majorca. Now showing as below:
26/07/2014 - 06/09/2014 15.40 BA4523 Humberside -> Palma arr 19.20 20.15 BA4524 Palma -> Humberside arr 21.55
The FAQ section has also been updated. In answer to "what aircraft do we use?"
"jetXtra.com flights are operated by Embraer 190 aircraft, seating 98 passengers with a generous 34" seat pitch, these aircraft are operated on our behalf by British Airways. The Embraer 190 is the latest twin engine jet aircraft from aircraft manufacturer Embrear and is able to comfortably operate to short haul destinations. Aircraft types are subject to change and are not guaranteed"

Although no flights are showing as available, Olympic Holidays appear to have Benidorm in the drop-down box for May-Oct 2014 if you search for Humberside departures. You are not able to search, as no flights show available, but might suggest Olympic are taking some seats on the JetXtra service?
Unusually, they do not appear to be taking seats on TCX charters from HUY next year as things currently stand, something I believe they have done for the past few years.
