A temporary speed limit and one-lane traffic will be introduced on the busy A18 near Humberside Airport.
North Lincolnshire Council says that although actual work at the scene is not expected to start until November to repair a bridge, temporary traffic lights will be in place from Monday, July 29 "to enable workers to establish the best repair solution."
A spokeswoman said: "At this time, there will be a one-way traffic system in place over the bridge. The speed limit will also reduce from 60pmh to 30mph.
Work will be undertaken to strengthen the bridge carrying the road over the main Scunthorpe to Cleethorpes railway line at Melton Ross.
The speed limit will apply to the A18 from its junction with the B1211 - near the Singleton Birch works - and extend eastwards over the bridge towards the airport.

A18: Strengthening or Replacing the Railway Bridge at Melton Ross - £1.75M
The A18 is a strategic link road between Scunthorpe and the Ports of Immingham and Grimsby and the bridge over the Scunthorpe to Grimsby railway line provides the primary access route into Humberside airport, a vital asset for the region’s economic growth. The bridge is currently in a weakened condition and the investment will return it to being fully functional thereby allowing all vehicles travelling on the A18 to use it instead of HGVs having to divert through the village.
