In the light of recent national speculation about which regional airports may go to the wall in the current climate of massive cutbacks :- Reasons for thinking HUY will be OK. 1) They have a diverse clientele, eg., charters, schedules, AND the offshore business, which has just increased, with two lots of extra traffic. 2)They have always made a profit - albeit negligible; and MAG now seem to have reluctantly recognised this. 3) A very loyal group of customers (including myself and family) - if it doesn't fly from HUY we don't fly! 4) The recent investment in the state of the art coldstore for foodstuffs - Hull and Grimsby are the UK centres for processing frozen foods. 5) Eastern Airways are based here, and although they (inexplicably?) don't appear interested in developing further routes here despite great potential, they do employ 200 people at HUY, if the article in the business section of the Evening Telegraph is correct. 6) It would not be in the interests of the other part owner - N.Lincs Council to lose HUY- as it would deter further international inward investment.
