The April edition of Holiday Which? contains a detailed survey of 38 United Kingdom airports and terminals. Humberside is rated as the sixth best of these. Kirmington scored 5 stars for check-in,airport experience and time and distance to the aircraft. HUY also scored 4 stars for airside amenities and for lack of delays to arriving passengers. Blackpool came top (only,it seems, because it scored 4 stars for its cafe, whereas HUY passengers do not appear to use the catering facilities enough to get them rated). Bottom were the four oldest Heathrow terminals followed by the two at Gatwick.

Firstly welcome to the forum
And secondly I think the survey results show the benefits of smaller regional airports. Hopefully the airport will use those results in some of its publicity

This raises the question as to what is the ideal size for an airport from the passenger's point of view. I would suggest an annual passenger throughput of about 2 million. That sort of size should allow the costs to be recovered and provide an adequate return to the operator. It should also mean that there would be a wide range of routes and hopefully an absence of the unpleasant conditions which blight some of the major airports. I don't know the passenger figures, but the sort of airports which spring to mind as a pleasure to visit are Bergen and Stavanger (in which direction, UK 600 from HUY is much missed !).
