KL0974, the afternoon departure and KL0975, the evening arrival have been cancelled 'because of the weather conditions '.
There have also been cancelled KLM flights at MME, CWL,and SOU among others. The weather at Amsterdam is rain with a 14 knot north westerly wind. With all their available runways, it is difficult to see how this could be a problem. Is it more likely to be their congestion situation?

I did notice that G-CLYU, the Eastern aircraft they often use on the Humberside route, was on the Newcastle - AMS route yesterday at the same time. KLM prioritising routes they consider more important due to lack of aircraft?

It looks as though KLM do prioritise routes on which they have larger loads, as there were no cancellations at Leeds/Bradford, Bristol or Newcastle. This will reduce their costs of providing for and compensating affected passengers. They have alleviated their aircraft shortage by hiring in from Eastern and German Airways, so it looks like the Schiphol slot problem which will hopefully improve when there are less flights with the winter timetable.

It’s ok doing that but unfortunately it appears to be resulting in loyal customers just using the routes out of other airports where they feel it’s more reliable. That’s a huge shame and also a huge risk to the route at HUY. I don’t think anyone would take the trek to MAN for the 6am to AMS when they could have done the 30 minute drive to HUY for the same flight, but when they’re becoming so unreliable people are choosing to avoid being either stuck in HUY or stuck in AMS when they just want to get home. I hope things improve drastically soon because otherwise I’m not sure how long the route will last - and no, I do not believe they would relocate to DSA if it ever reopens, they’ll just abandon the region entirely which doesn’t bear thinking about!
