The DUB route carried 1348 in May.
Assuming the route operated 6xweekly? Then the average load was 25 pax. That would put the load factor in the 30-40% area i believe.

The service is operated on a daily basis so with 31 days in May the average is 43.48.....and wasn't there some disruption to flights on account of ash??? Also, I heard they were sometimes using the smaller capacity ATR 42 on the route? If so, the loadings are good aren't they?

service was not operated on a daily basis - no flight on Tuesday and cancelled 5th, 16th & 17th. All flights were by ATR72.

28 average load I think then. Wikipedia (so unsure how reliable) says RE's ATR-72's seat either 68 or 70. 42% load factor with 68 seats or 40% with 70 seats

Of course yields will be the major factor, i seem to remember the 2xdaily CDG service from HUY was carrying similar loads but managed to operate for 18 months untill Gill went into administration.
Easyjet on the other hand will be a different story, if they are having loads of only around 50% to AMS then surely they may reduce the freq and perhaps look at adding Nice or CDG? Though i suppose the crew and aircraft change happens at AMS doesnt it?

A chum, who is a senior pilot flying with easyJet, tells me that they require load factors of over 70% to say a route is established. As their own cuts bite it will be interesting to see if DSA-AMS survives!

The DUB flights from both MME and DSA are being chopped for the winter by all accounts. It looks like the 'reason' will be a shortage of aircraft this winter at DUB, and the slots for MME and DSA will be used by the CWL flights.
It has been said that EI are far from satisfied with the loads for these two routes though and it is not thought that they will return, despite DUB getting an extra aircraft next summer.

Aer Arann to enter 'examinership'... Clearly their tie up with EI was a last chance attempt at making money...
They wont be back at DSA anytime soon, can say that with quite some confidence.

It's not the first time Aar Arran has been in difficulties. The successful service out of SCA was suspended owing to some internal matters and when the company wanted to recommence they were refused permission by owners who , by then, were committed to redevelopment.
