I asked on pprune whether there was any news on potential new routes. A poster this evening has linked to a tweet from the airport (didn't even know they did this!!!) that there would be a major routes (plural) announcement soon. They couldn't say more but to "watch this space". So I'll guess we'll have to!
Wonder who & where? I jokingly said Ryanair, but I wonder if it's Flybe? Some of the ex-GSM routes?
Seems to be a feeling that the downturn of traffic may be bottoming out. Although traffic dropped 4% in Jun, it was put down to the BA strikes, & there has been an upturn in heli traffic offshore, reflecting increased investment in the North Sea.
Also an increase in bizjets, particularly in the last few weeks, & especially US ones.

Interesting.
Ryanair might be the best hope for getting the likes of Alicante and Malaga back, since it will be very hard to justify an ABZ base for any LoCo operating B737 size equipment - GSM proved that with their (lack of) winter operations. Ideal example of how FR could exploit their Spanish and Faro 'resort' bases

Sources (not mine!!) say:
3x daily to MAN (Flybe) DUB (Aer Aerann possibly on behalf of Aer lingus)
Woo!

MAN seems like logical joining the dots in the BE route network, but is there enough demand to DUB for both Ryanair and RE/EI?

Agreed H, MAN seems more logical than DUB...but a source has told me something totally different, & nothing to do with either of these destinations I mentioned! We'll have to see on Monday!

Sounds more promising, but some ideas seem more realistic than others. Also with talks ongoing with more than 20 airlines, likely these are rather general talks
