Thomas Cook's CEO has gone, and a review into the UK business launched. TTG website seems to suggest a reduction in fleet size with additional aircraft leased in for summer only, and possibly a withdrawal from long haul as well as a review of the product on offer. None of that need necessarilly affect HUY, but still worth keeping an eye on as change definetly appears to be coming

Also noted that Bmibaby will be selling seats to Co-op travel/Thomas Cook. Looks like this is the future for them, with the inhouse airline being reduced significantly/completely withdrawn. Airports will then need a based low-cost airline/ overseas operator to fly their routes.
So, as things stand, how many charter flights will HUY see on a regular basis next summer?
I make it 6. Heraklion, Palma x 2??, Dalaman and Bourgas. With the Larnaca only operating for 2 months.
Absolutely dreadful.

Only one Palma sadly. Hadn't quite realised it's got so bad.
And being brutally honest Bourgas has rubbish loads so if it got pulled I wouldn't be surprised, Olympic have struggled to get plane capacity in the past and we know the state of Thomas Cook. I would not be surprised if any of them got pulled before next Summer season actually starts

Four flights a week on sale (five between May and July)? Next year after TCX have done their restructuring I would bet that both PMI and DLM will be dropped.
Pretty desperate times for passenger flights at HUY, and the airport will definately drop below 200,000 ppa..

Heraklion is 3.5 months, late May to early Sept. I don't think Bourgas usually operates the full six months of the season - not sure about TCX
As for passenger figures, assuming AMS/ABZ/Oil Rigs are the same as 2010 (last full year available) which for AMS/ABZ at least is probably a reasonable assumption, then those three alone would handle 195445 passengers
ABZ 2010 - 27071 AMS 2010 - 113714 Oil Rigs 2010 - 54660
I'd guess between whatever charters remain, possibly Ryanair, and Flybe's Jersey (2010 2257) there would be enough to keep passenger levels above 200,000. But potentially not by much

The only bit of hope on the holiday flights front is that they are playing right into the hands of Ryanair now... But with flights from DSA too how many routes could they realistically offer, should they want to add some?
I seem to remember not too long ago (and since DSA opened) there were 7-8 flights a week just to PMI alone, and one of those was on a 767! I know the market isn't so favourable at the minute, but surely the demand proven a few years ago is still there in part. Time to step in FR and LS! The charter market is coming to the end of the line now IMO.

Tenerife, Malaga and Palma would most likely be with FR. Problem is that this poster seems to enjoy leading people down the garden path..

Hopefully there is something being finalised with an airline or tour operator and this possible press release isn't just an announcement of what we already know is on sale for next Summer

Could be anything at the moment, possibly the re-instated 4th rotation with KLM as it seems to be doing alot better? I would think they are working on something though, with BE last year and now FR this year we know the management are keen to add routes that have been lost due to tour operator consolidation, and with high load factors and supposidly good yields it gives the airport more ammo when talking to them.
Fingers crossed for something this month then.

Are they reputable airlines? Could it see LCA being reinstated full season too?
