Easyjet being rumoured also, talk of w patterns from LPL... If all of this is true it looks like DSA are going for the jugular. Not much hope for HUY now

It is Easyjet... Daily to AMS, Also PRG, BCN, PMI, and FAO on 3-4 weekly... I suppose its a way For EZY to utilize their aircraft at LPL and not have to invest in a new base. I wish them well so remains to be seen if it does better than Geneva did.

Good as it maybe to have Easyjet back on board again the AMS flight timings will still not allow for a days business trip will it? The destinations they are serving hardly seem likely, to this simple soul, to be ones where incoming tourism will be generated... in any case havent they all been tried before? Isnt it a possibility that this new "arrival" might be linked to the long awaited sale of 49% of Peel Airports?

Three likely reasons.
The one you mentioned could have something to do with it.
The aircraft will be sat around at LPL anyway so makes sense to use them somewhere.
They could be testing the water for further stuff.
I do think that this is make or break for them, if it works then they may add more and perhaps consider a base, if not they can just pull out.
I suspect this is why they have chosen not to base there, no large financial committment etc....
I hope it works for them but if it doesnt then i cannot see anyone else showing interest after that.

There is only one truly new route for DSA (the one to BCN) Crew are staying in a hotel for which Peel have arranged favourable hotac rates. Its all a part of a deal made by EZY with Peel which enhances the airlines position in the north/north-west. They announced new aircraft to be based at MAN. Could Peel be worried over EZYs increasing presence @man?

It is said that the Peel contract with EZY is very restrictive, so when they wanted to open more routes from MAN, and potential routes at LPL thin on the ground, they have moved into DSA...
It is taken from some posters on Pprune, its also said that the contract has gone from realy bad to just bad for EZY. If it doesnt work they will pull the aircraft from DSA and revert back to LPL.

My understanding is that Peel was so desperate to keep EZY at LPL that they have offered them some "bargain" terms....Part of the offer, of course, is to revive DSAs failing prospects as well as keeping up appearances for any prospective 49er!

The first passenger numbers for EZY flights, numbers look low, the person who has given the breakdown has not taken in to account total flights eg. AMS has 17 flights, counted out only, not included 17 inward flights, so passenger per flight should be half the number he has quoted.

Nope the flight numbers are right as the flights didn't start until the 24th of april due to the ash cloud. If as you say there are 17 flights in and out then that would mean they started on the 13th of April! Amsterdam isn't going great , prague ok-ish and the three sun routes are going well. Dublin however is poor

I dont think this April or May will be a good way to judge as people flying to AMS and DUB may have made alternative arrangements due to the ash cloud lingering. Give it time it may pick up.
Even if they dont do well i cannot see EZY dropping them, they need some gap fillers to make it worthwhile, and i believe they will not want to get on the wrong footing with Peel due to their base at LPL.

Fair point lets see what june/july figures have to say.
Importantly from what I gather the easyjet crews are happy with the odd stopover at Dsa. With the new hotel being built could a similar kind of arrangement work at humberside with jet2 with either manchester or east mids based crew? (Maybe a question for a different thread)

It cant do any harm, though im hopefull of more especially of Jet2, i dont think it will happen.
It could help convince TCX to resume their winter operations assuming management are after that business back, they could the subsidise crew stopovers. I dont think it would make too much difference to LS though, as im told many crews actualy live within an hour of HUY anyway.

How come easyJet have released all routes until 30th/31st December 2010 apart from Palma. Is this route summer only??? or have they scrapped it???.

There seems to be speculation that the easyJet DSA base will be shifted to MAN in January, as all winter routes for DSA end in December, but all other winter timetables go right through to Feb. Mix this with Amsterdam being added to MAN's schedules (a DSA route), it seems to add up.
